I like that you guys used tools and methods that have some hope of actually recovering your waste. It disturbs me to see so many makers do a ton of sanding and create microplastic dust that ends up all over the place.

I just stumbled across your video and watched. I enjoyed it. If you do make a full size axe handle, look into carbon fiber rods. Many guitar builders who do put truss rods in their guitar (and other musical instrument) necks will reinforce them with 2 carbon fiber rods down the length of the neck. For your axe handle, 1 or 2 rods down the length of the handle should add great reinforcement without adding a bunch of weight. If you do it for your small axe handles you can probably get away with just one rod in the handle. I enjoyed your video. Cheers.

Thanks for the GREAT video, with a full guide, from the very first start untill the very last step, naming all the tools and explaining why and how... I saw lots of DIY videos and i'm really impressed on how fast and easy you communicate everything, for a total newbie as me all the info i needed, and what i allready knew didn't bother at all, just on the way how you talk+show+move on fluently... Lol, me commenting on the quality of your communication & editing skills... :'-D I really enjoyed watching it, listened and looked carefully, no details where left out and neither did you over-explain or show... First time viewer of your videos , and I'm triggered !!! And yes, PS: great work on the Axe... Love axes and old weapons myself.... And the recycling and making people aware that you can even make better and more beautifull things.... GREAT job guys !!!! (the 570k views maybe yet gave you that hint... hahaha.) Peace, lotta love & stay on track ! i've learned more in his video than just how to build an axe. The world needs people like you guys !!!!

The problem with fitting wedges and play in the head could be solved by leaving the shaft slightly oversized and cutting a slot for the wedges. The head will compress the slot by squeezing the shaft, then the wedges will force it outwards again so the tension keeps everything in place. However I think you were on to something when you tried to melt the excess handle. If you intentionally left excess you could melt it down to mushroom over the head, then clean it up afterwards.

I have a suggestion that will make the wedging of the handle easier.Just before you put the handle in the head saw a slit in the handle , like all wooden ax hatchet and hammer handles have. Now the wedges will pound in properly for you .
