Hey Terry! Not getting recipes from anywhere, these are just ideas we have come up with over the years through trial and error.

Loved your review. Im deciding on buying one of these too. Question. Today I trialed what you did on my ziggy twin but I burnt the bottom of the pizza on my ziggy 30cm pizza stone. I only managed to get it up to a max of 250C, over 30 min, before I put the pizza in. I’m assuming it was black because the heat close to the flame was hotter than the top. Should I have turned the flames down to low after putting the pizza on the stone? I didn’t, and burn’t the base of the pizza on the stone. It was black and couldn’t eat the bottom. I used a wholemeal thin and crispy Tip Top pizza base from Coles.

G’day Chris. Can I ask if you preheated your stone? I always do and I will sprinkle a little flour over it before I put the pizza on it. I am able to get the Elite Twin Grill to nearly 300 degrees Celsius. At that heat, my pizzas cook in under 10minutes. I wouldn’t recommend dropping your heat once the pizza goes in. The beauty of the Elite Twin is that there is quite a good gap between the flame tube and the grill plates which I think helps a lot. From what I can see, your burners look to be a lot closer to the grill, which may account for the high heat burning your bases. I wonder if you could use something to lift your stone a little higher off the grill plates??? Perhaps invert a small baking tray on your grill then place your stone on that? If you like crispy bases (which we do) , don’t be afraid to try pita bread too. I have used them before with good results. It’s all a bit of trial and error. I can assure I have absolutely burned (and undercooked) my fair share of pizzas. Best of luck mate. Let us know how you go and if any of these tips help. And thanks again for your support. Keep on cookin’ mate. Cheers Brow and Chicko.

Good morning Brow Yes I preheated the stone when I fired the bbq up i put it in at the start. I’m guessing you’re right. Too close to the burners. I’ll do what you suggested today and put the stone under a pan to raise it up a bit and sprinkle some flour on the stone just before i put the pizza on, Will let you know how I go.
