Beautiful creatures. We have Irish Hares on the land around our house. They even come onto the patio sometimes. I'm looking at one right now outside the window.

Yes, there they really are magical. They are like some kind of fairytale creature. Although I live in a small city, if you are lucky you can meet hares here in the evening.

I once saw a hare run into a stone wall, what I think is black out, and then wake up, make a weird noise and then run away. That was also the first time I saw one.

Great stuff and you're really lucky to get so close. I rarely see a Hare and when I do they're ~ 100m away. Thanks for sharing :-)

Neolithic people would bury their skeletons alongside their remains of humans, they were a symbol of rebirth, and that's why we have the Easter Bunny.

What a great experience :) interesting that they both headed in different directions once they got close to you, and nice to see them in slow motion! I saw a few yesterday in the afternoon, and read that they are usually nocturnal animals but become a bit "mad" in March during the mating season, which is where the saying "as mad as a March Hare" comes from!

Why are rabbits consider 'pest' in England? Also how often do you need to trim the numbers to stabilise the ecology on your farm? Cheers! -CJ

+Charles Jourdan There are over 40 million of them and they do serious agricultural and land damage. It is a requirement of all landowners to control the number of rabbits they have. We just keep on top of them, we actually like seeing them about, just to many though.
