They all seem like friends. Sniffing each other's butts, grooming each other and raising their tails in the air are all usual signs that cats like each other. If they were enemies, then they'd have their ears flattened, would be lashing out more and their tails would either be lowered or swishing back and forth. You can tell that the bits where they're 'fighting' or 'chasing' each other are just play because our cat keeps looking behind him to see if his friend is following. An actually scared cat would just keep running until he got somewhere safe.

Feral cats are actually super social. Just not with humans. They are usually part of a cat colony. Strays are generally skittish and antosocial, due to not having a human (since strays are cats that have wandered from a human home) and not being accepted into a feral community. Most cats just dont care for human attention all day.

Ferals also dont feel like they're at a disadvantage when it comes to a new cat coming in. Older cats aren't jealous when people get kittens, they're depressed because they think they're being abandoned. People don't care about older cats and a LOT of the time, the older cats are proven correct.

@danielciocilteu354522 күн бұрын
When a cat does that trembling sound it is really excited about something it saw. In this case it was watching birds. For cats, birds are like the ultimate video game boss that if you manage to catch you win the internet or something. Cats also enjoy watching bugs a lot. It;s like watching cartoons for them. Every summer in june-july it's roach mating season and one of my cats goes nuts watching them scurry about all evening. Sometimes she does not move for an hour (which is quite something for a cat that is active). She loves watching the roach show XD. I have a small yard and the garden becomes infested with roaches in their mating season. I use very little poison out doors in order to not affect the cats, as i have many visiting cats, so in mid summer my garden become roach Jurassic Park. XD

Edit: i didn't answer your initial question; a video about outdoor cats is likely to draw people who are either more focused on learning about social behaviors amongst domestic cats when left to their own devices and thus will probably ignore points about outdoor vs indoor cats, as well as people who staunchly believe in unleashing an unbelled Ms. Skittles upon the poor inhabitants of their neighborhood, and thus will either ignore or attack points about outdoor vs indoor cats. It's more beneficial to look at videos where you're more likely to see people on the fence. @@ripvanwando why do you expect to see animal life from the perspective of an animal that is very small and often evaded by prey animals? These creatures are hiding from other cat sized predators, I'm sure, so there's no reason for a cat to see them. The domestic house cat as a species is very good at decimating ecosystems, there's no doubt about that, but individual members of the species aren't sporting the same kinds of success rates as some of their wild relatives, and they're still up against other animals that are still relatively smart.

Thank you for this. Cats are much more social than humans think. They are private and like their space, but they also have friends. They have enemies. They sometimes have a falling out with a friend. They get lonely. They can be bullies, but I've also observed situations where they seem to have empathy; a couple of times my cats have alerted me to a cat that was sick or injured. I could tell something was bothering them but it took a while for me to find the source of their distress---an ailing cat. They are marvelous, sophisticated creatures!

@K.C-2049 ive always wondered why dogs cant be trained to poop in giant cat litter boxes in back yard?
@lizardguy53232 ай бұрын
I think it's because cats instinctively want to hide their waste (except if feeling territorial), but dogs don't have this inclination at all, and prefer to mark their territory in wider areas. That said, i think you could actually train a dog to use a litter box, depending on how old it is and how well it takes to trainin generally, it just wouldn't come as naturally as it does to a cat.
