Are the Brown Mountain Lights a legend, a natural phenomenon, or both?

I have visited Brown Mountain a lot of times at Wiseman's View and I have seen these lights several times. My Family are the Wiseman's.

The video he captured is authentic. That's exactly what I saw while camping a few years ago. A bright light hovering above the mountain. We also saw lights that seemed to float below the mountains peak in the trees. I saw them from the top of upper falls looking down the falls over the valleys and on the mountain in the distance. Idk if it was brown mountain or not, but it looked exactly like what he filmed.

I am watching and posting this because Im seeing unusual lights on our new property. I am in the Smokey mountains in Millers Creek, nc about 3.5 miles from the blue ridge parkway on the side of what I believe is Meditation Mountain. Our house overlooks mountains to the east and southeast. I’ve been seeing lights in the woods that seem close (on our 10 acres) and far. I don’t think they are similar to the brown mountains lights as these are really bright and don’t rise above the land. The first set was close and in a similar spot but only last 20 seconds or so. We’ve seen the in Nov and so far early dec. Are people hunting at night? We’ve driven all around and there aren’t any roads even near where they are seen (ie headlights). We don’t hear people walking and no gunshots at night. Honestly the only way we’d get the angle we see, it seems the light may be in the trees. We will keep looking around for an explanation but thought I’d ask if it’s common.

We've seen them green blue and white all in the first night we camped close by came from FAYETTEVILLE we absolutely are astonished and in love with the NC MOUNTAINS no place that compares the restfull peaceful wonderful climate around October is what I look forward to all year myself and a buddy actually sleep under the stars!! Then we come back with the family's tents and all cant get enough my wish Is to one day build a logg home atop beech or sugar mountain banner elk!!!! GOD is great what more proof do people need!!!!

Saw the lights when I was a soldier at Fort Bragg over the USAF airfield. Never seen something come from hyperspace because I watched them appear in the sky from *NOTHING* and others saw the same lights at the same time in NY and California when I posted them

I was traveling through n ..pilot mountain area..2007. Daytime around 3pm. Taking pics of pilot mountain and later when posting pics on Facebook.. I noticed a white orb in the photo.

Well, last year in late July, my husband and I were outside on the patio. We were just talking and I kind of looked up toward a line of trees in the backyard. As I tuned to look up there was a Blue Orb ball of light that was just hovering over the trees and as soon as I saw it, this orb shot over the house toward the front yard. It was moving so quick and I was freaked out!! I was asking my husband if he saw it, he didn't but I will NEVER forget it. I have no idea what it was but it was amazing. I don't live near Brown mtn though.

I have seen them twice from the overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The conditions have to be just right. A clear day in early September is the time to go. When the conditions are perfect, you won't see just a single light. There can be multiple lights and they move about and sometimes break into several lights. The ASU professor is incorrect when he says that many are "man made." Brown Mountain is undeveloped and pure wilderness. There is nothing on Brown Mountain that is man made.

There are many such lights around the country, if anyone cares to check on them. An old book from the 1960s called MYSTERIOUS FIRES AND LIGHTS by Vincent H. Gaddis can easily be found online cheaply. It has a chapter on various such lights, and I recommend it.

As I posted this a co worker told me he went to the brown mountain trails at 7 o'clock and drove around on his new can am til 1130. He said the woods was pitch black and couldn't see his own hands in his face. But he said that he would see lights in the woods red, orange, white and even green. He asked a friend if he seen the lights too and he said yea. They were miles in the woods

Here in India, Kerala State, atop of a mountain there is a temple dedicated to lord Ayyappa. During the month of January 14th,by evening 4.30-6.30, a bright burning light can be seen at a distant horizon for 3hours.sceptics say it is a bright Star but that star appears only on 14th day in January and not any other day. Only for a day and disappear later.can anybody who is reading this comment explain what exactly it is?

I’ve been there before my step brother went missing. We stepped out of the car and almost like hundreds of the lights formed around us and I was to scared to notice that my step brother just disappeared and we got back home in fear and I found his tablet and I was gonna give it to him and he was gone idk what happened it’s really disturbing every time I think about it I wonder what happened to him

I went there with my dad and brother last month and every person we talked to on how to get there talked weird and Strange, like they had no idea what it was when it was only 15 min from them, and when we tried the GPS it lead us to some really weird private drive way and then when we asked it the same thing it lead us to a road in the middle of nowhere, it was like god wanted to not go there.🤔

Hwy 181 in Morganton has an overlook, there are a couple overlooks off the blueridge parkway with good visibility and wiseman’s view which is a pretty rough, rutted dirt road that takes you to parking area then a trail leads to the viewing area. The overlooks off the parkway can be found in a search, can’t recall which 2 they are so don’t want to guess on here. I watched them in the snow from one of the parkway overlooks late 90s or early 2000. Haven’t been able to catch them since but haven’t tried too hard either.

Looks exactly like a choper that we have flying around at night.you can't hear it but looks same as those lights.you would not hear chopper at night if you far enouph.we have a military bade that a chopper dos fly around at night you can't hear it unless its over your head but you can hear them durying day at further distance.
