The year is 1942, and Archie Glass Is trying to get into Hollywood. His chance comes as he is offered a job: Find a young white movie star before the press reports that she is missing and he will have a shot at his Hollywood dream. Thus begins a journey into a Los Angeles you have never seen before, the actors who play the maids, the busboys, the background actors in jungle films, all spring into the foreground in this dramatic noir about a man willing to do anything to make his dream come true. Archie searches the back alley of Hollywood and discovers more lies than truth. Ultimately he finds the woman he is looking for and the dark reality of being a black man in tinsel town.

This was an enjoyable movie; I love the who did it movies. The character Archie wanted to be an actor; he would have made an excellent detective. Definitely a surprise ending.

Good movie! The costume department should have known the era better though. Women did NOT wear short dresses in the 40s or 50s! They dressed them like the 60s. Irritating when it’s supposed to be portraying the 40s. But the movie was really good.... watching the old movies, it’s heartbreaking to think how the black actors/ musicians and singers were treated worse than dogs!!! Like poor Dorothy Dandridge!! Good enough to perform for the whites but not good enough to drink water from their spickets or swim in their pools!!!

He owned the house he lived in and then was suppose to sale it because he couldn’t live there In peace. The constant bullying and threats of his neighbors also turned his mental around

His friend shot himself because after purchasing the home, the neighbors began to harass him and his family, his wife and children moved back to New Orleans and then the studio doscontinued his contract. By the way, forget to mention that the neighbors killed his dog as well.

I agree. This movie had the potential to be great. The era its set is a good idea but not executed well, the actors are attractive but not the best at delivery. The story somehow got mixed up but that could have been better so audience could be more emotional to the characters but somehow between the plot and the actors, everything got jumbled up.
