Thanks. I got it installed yesterday with the EGW Mainspring that has the lanyard loop. Actually a gotcha here is that the sear spring you have to make sure the legs are in the right places as I had trouble at first getting the hammer to go back and realized the leftmost leg was not put in correctly.

Putting the mag Half in helps keep the hammer strut from getting behind the main spring

I managed to put a 25lb Wilson Combat hammer spring within my mainspring housing without a vise, and let me tell you, it was one of the most labor intensive experiences ever but you live and you learn. Quite a workout, you could say.

While this video may seem overly complicated its really just showing you every possible thing you might have to do with this job. Ive had a few times where sear spring has come out and needed to be reinstalled

You can put a rubber band on the grip safety to make it easier

@@thebusterdog6358 Watched a lower quality vid that used the hair band method seemed pretty simple, then watch this master disassemble the gun and the entire mainspring assembly poured out i almost spit out my coffee ahaa

Dunno how much easier it can get than what he showed. What’s the purpose of putting a rubber band on the grip safety? In case you have super shaky hands and Michael j Fox a part across the room?

@@izs1991 Much, Much easier. No need to remove the slide. Remove the pin, depress the grip safety or use a rubber band, remove the internal parts, swap them to the new one, insert the new housing and insert the pin. DONE.

you seem to have forgotten either the step where you block the safety plunger or search for hours to find the safety and slide stop plunger because even though the spring is kinked it still launched out of the tube faster than the speed of light.

Michael Halas that’s exactly what happened to me. I’m giving up looking for it and will probably just have to get another one. Yes he goes too quickly and left that step out .

@@robertoflores4546 Well, when you start working on a gun, you need to know its structures and how it works anyway. The fact that a small part of the disassembly is skipped in this video is irrelevant. If you don't understand much about this gun how it works, leave the work to more experienced people.

@@paul55austria51 not really, you just need to know about that certain area you're working on, which is why people pull up this video. that's why we have assembly lines, you only need to know about the section you work on, and the product still gets made. I'm not trashing you, i just disagree with the fact that you think people should just give up and pay someone, how else are they to learn about the gun without breaking it down? Personally, I would use a diagram but mistakes happen and not everyone has one.

@@lappoo5875 I certainly understand what you mean, but what I mean to say is that if you know the technique of the weapon, you will not be surprised with these kinds of incidents or questions ... He (Brownells) assumes that the viewer does understands what he's doing and skips a part. And..... a diagram can always be found on the internet. Before I start working on my guns, I want to know how it works and what I can encounter. After all, a weapon is not a toy ..... or in other words a potentially dangerous toy, but very fun to work on.

You fail to say why the thumb safety is removed to replace the main spring housing. In my experience it is totally unnecessary.

I had to because the sear spring came loose and I couldn't put it in properly.

I don't really care for guns well for bullets. But I found these parts at my sister's house that she just bought and had to figure out what the hell it was. Lol lots of knick knacks in the garage and she wants to throw it All away

This process for removing the MSH is not easr than other tutorials; there is no need to break the gun down to this level.

Need Help. I changed mine out but have a problem. The hammer no longer locks back. I think it has to do with the mainspring alignment but cannot get the safety latch out to remove the grip safety. Any easy fix?

Ridiculous! There is no need to take the gun down that far to simply work on the mainspring housing. You might possibly wish do is remove the grips and place rubber bands around the grip safety and NOTHING more!
