Windham Weaponry are the same guys that worked at Bushmaster before Bushmaster was bought by the Freedom Group. They are out of Maine and make a real top quality AR from what I have seen on here.

They're good they're the same as Bushmaster. They are made at the old Bushmaster plant after Bushmaster sold to Remington and they outsourced their rifles so the CEO bought the building back and rehired the workers.

Good tip to double check the function of the grip safety. Try pulling the trigger without pushing in the grip safety to make sure it doesnt drop hammer. The tabs on the mainspring housing may need to be “fitted” to make sure the grip safety engages/disengages properly. Good video still 😊

The rubber bands are great and all but all those parts you said "suck" if they come out won't come out without removing thumb safety and grip safety. But it wont hurt anything I guess, just unnecessary. Its called a hammer strut btw.

Why on earth did you remove the slide and the grips??? With the hammer down it takes all the spring compression off the main spring housing. Remover the pin and slide out the housing. You sure made it harder than it is.🤔

why do these higher-end 1911 makers use plastic mainspring housings? Anyway, great directions for mainspring housing and mainspring swap out. Just ditched the original plastic mainspring housing on my Kimber Raptor II for an Ed Brown metal mainspring housing. Great directions, very easy to follow. Rubber bands on the grip safety is a great idea, saves a lot of time. Thanks!
@AreThereNoMoreNames11 жыл бұрын
That's called a hammer strut, and to save myself a little trouble I've always stoned the end of mine down so that, when the slide is removed, the hammer won't be pressed against the frame, but kept the tip slightly rounded. Doesn't make a difference when the slide is on, though. Installs easy and won't elongate the mainspring housing pin hole. Sort of curious, what's the danger with the beavertail safety and breaking the sear? Never had a problem like that with mine.
@kennethbmason11 жыл бұрын
Thanks pete, got a little nervous when the pin wouldn't go back in right away... but one hard whack made it all good!
@rogersarenpa55476 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video-very well done I replaced the plastic mainspring housing in my Kimber Raptor 2 and now the slide will not move past the push rod that engages the firing pin block. I have re-installed the sear, disconnector and push rod and (Ed Brown mainspring housing) several times slide still hits the push rod where it protrudes into the slide.
