I love the information that you just gave. I never knew that about the barrel.

A note for others if you are building 9mm with para Clark cut your feed ramp will be in magwell and will require some fitting for magazine it is correct

I think you can cut a Wilson/Nowlin frame to a Clark /Para, but not the other way around.
@hoosiered4712 жыл бұрын
Ok, but you left out discussing the advantages vs. disadvantages of the Wilson/Nowlin vs. the Clark/Para. For example, the 10mm in the 1911 platform. Should a person go with the Wilson/Nowlin barrel or the Clark/Para????
@thinman8621 Жыл бұрын
Clark/Para is rounded and looks a little less likely to develop stress cracks at the corners when contrasted with the Nowlin/Wilson.

Thanks for the info. Is the Wilson style or the para style better than the other?

I’m tryin to shorten my 1911 .45 from the 5” to with the 3.5” or 4” but I’m not 100% on what all else I’d have to replace other than the obvious slide and barrel. Any videos or websites to refer me too?

Need to shave frame rails shorter

Do non ramped 45 work withh hollow points? Also, when the ammo is in the chamber (but the slide open) is there any side wiggle normal for the ammo or has to be perfectly still tight?
@Totemparadox4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the manufacturer. Nighthawk, Les Baer, Wilson, etc. all have unramped .45 barrels and I haven't seen one with feeding issues when using hollow points of any kind.

Just wondering, can you have a traditional ramp cut to accept a ramped barrel?
@shawnmatthews51185 жыл бұрын
So, a ramped frame for a ramped barrel? Or, does a ramp in one forego the use of the other? I’ve never built a 1911....yet.

What’s the difference in Clark rampt and nowling they look the same ?
@john904306 жыл бұрын
Steve explained the difference in the video. Watch again from 1:15 onward. See the shape of the underside of the barrel to the rear of the link-lugs. One is squared, the other is rounded. You can't put a square peg in a round hole.
@lowellhouser77315 жыл бұрын
How it's machined. The cutting bit is a spiral that's flat on the bottom, so if you tilt the frame vertical and advance the bit down it will leave a flat ridge. If you instead jig up the frame so that you move advance the bit sideways it will leave a round cut.

2:23 This is not true. I got stuck with an AR gas block from them. I have documented emails with their support from last year around this. Since then I've refused to do business with Brownells.

Somebody give logical geometric proof that a integrally ramped barrel has more case support than a standard ramped barrel.
@blacknightgaming89872 жыл бұрын
I could only assume it’s based off of surface area distributing the pressure, instead of nothing supporting the rounded edge of the non-ramped barrel and having it momentarily expand. As the ramped seems to protect/limit the expansion of the casing upon firing higher pressure rounds. But i’ve also never built an M1911 and am still researching all this currently.

I was going to customize my 1911 but after watching several video's on barrel fitting etc. i have decided to say screw 1911's they are too much of a pain in the ass, i just want to have an accurate pistol to shoot but i absolutely don't want to constantly be screwing with it, screw the constant adjusting this,adjusting that, tuning your spring, have it machined, i mean absolutely F%^K all that bs. it's for sale tomorrow. I don't want more shit to maintain period. No way i'm ever gonna pay a gunsmith for jack shit.

What??? LOL. I just load my 1911 and it runs. Never a malfunction, never a jam just a fantastic handgun. Check out Bul Armory.
@TankEpidemic Жыл бұрын
If you're buying a pistol to shoot it, buy it to shoot it. Some of us modify and customize our tools for specific purposes. Guns being precision made instruments, the act of needing to tune and adjust them is typically done by the manufacturer. Whether it's a 1911 or not doesn't change that. Buy what tool fits your needs, make sure the tool you buy is of reputable quality and you'll likely not need to fuss around with tuning. Drop in parts are rarely ever just drop in and will require fitting. If you don't have the tools to customize a gun, don't.
