This video might be fine for people that have successfully reassembled this model many times before and are just looking for a refresher. For those reassembling this firearm for the first time like me, The Berreta Guy's reassembly video is going to be much more helpful. The proper pump action arm and bolt positions were completely glossed over in this and are *not* obvious. If you're frustrated, don't blame yourself. Brownells really ought to title this video "A Quick Overview of Mossberg 500/590 Reassembly".

This four-part series was a godsend. My Mossberg 500 is right at the point where disassembly/cleaning/lube is necessary. I was intimidated by the process, now I’m actually looking forward to it. If you’d like to do a similar series on the Remington Nylon 22, I’d be grateful. Mine’s currently in approximately 100 pieces...

I want to share my experience. One time I wanted to replace the factory forehand device with one with rails so I could attach extras to it. Sadly I realized that I wasn't able to reassemble the shotgun back together so I put all the loose parts in the gun case and spent months thinking I broke my amazing shotgun. After watching this part 4 video it took me like 5 minutes to put all back together. Thank you for sharing these useful series.

The orientation of the slide is probably 90% of the issue of getting things to fit up properly. He clearly shows the correct orientation, and shows where the tab should fit into the bolt. The matter of wiggling back and forth to find the sweet spot is not too tough, the pause points are decent, and the pieces drop into each other. Take a wide picture of your innards before you start to disassemble if you need to.

So I was going to complain about this video but then I realize he did give the Right instructions. However his terminology and camera angles are what cause confusion . When he talks about "aligning the slide with the bolt and the action arms ". What he should have said and shown is that the " slide needs to be aligned with the actions arms ,AND inserted into the bolt,so that you can move/adjust the bolt when inserting the shell stoppers". Bc I just spent an hour wondering why the right side wouldn't go in,had search up other videos.

This is the standard security shotgun used by the Marine Corps. I keep mine handy for home security. Any person with normal wit and dexterity can disassemble and reassemble this firearm. More reliable than the junk Remington 870 produced of late. Just returned one because of poor metal work, would not eject multiple brands of shells, the chamber was milled like crap. Parts were abominable.

Parts 1-3 were fine. This one is more of a tease "look how easy I can do it". A few close-ups, details on where the parts should end up for easier installation of the next parts, are essential. There's no way a first time assemblyman could follow this. Please redo this Steve, you can easily reduce the frustration for many people relying on your typically expert guidance.

I agree with previous commenters - this video is very nearly worthless, as it completely skips over the intricate alignment that must be achieved between the bolt, bolt slide and action arms, and where all three need to be positioned within the receiver to achieve that alignment. Without knowing this, you will invariable lock your action up - ask me how I know. As suggested below, there is a very good video by a KZbinr named BerettaGuy who shows the exact positioning of these pieces, and once you know that, the gun is simple to reassemble. Without knowing this, however, it's like a Rubik's Cube. Brownell's either re-edit this vid to insert footage showing this, or re-do the video - it's really not helping anyone and is, in fact, causing more confusion than anything.
