Browning BAR Mark 3 Hell's Canyon .308 Win break in/review using a Sitelite Boresighter

I purchased a new rifle and wanted to do the entire setup on my own. I purchased a Sitelite boresighter to get me on target. This video shows the setup of the laser and the progression of the sight in process. I used 3 types of ammo. Core-Lokt 150 grain, Hornady ELD-X 178 grain and Federal Berger Hybrid 168 grain. The first 20 rounds i cleaned the barrel after every shot with Sweet's 7.62 to remove the copper buildup. After that I cleaned the barrel after 6 shots. I used the Core-Lokt after the cleaning as it is the least expensive quality round I can find. They actually shot well out of this rifle. There are multiple photos of targets alone the way.

Just got my 16 year old granddaughter a Browning BAR 270 Mark 3. Wood grain stock man is it beautiful just like she is. Cost as much as a vehicle. Can't wait to fire it but her B day ain't here yet and I can't shoot it first.

I bought one in 30 06, I love mine. Tight 3 inch groups at 300 yards all day long. Had to file my magazines for better feed functioning in cold weather. Do this and you will go wow on the action.

Hay Rich here's something to try if you and your Browning is good enough...100 yard target on the bench on a sand bag and a good vice....take a 2" circle target and only one...get a box plus five of your favorite boxed ammo...put all 25 in the circle...not one round can break the edge..it's very very difficult to do for the rifle the ammo and especially for the shooter...in the old days that's how we qualified for sniper badge...25 rounds all in a 2" circle..do that and then post comments...my .308 short Trac 18.25" barrel with a X-ring and 180 Fusion did it...snipers will only do it with bolt actions ..but my short Trac easily did it...good luck

I bought the first generation BAR short Trac. 308 with a custom 18.25" barrel...in spring of 2005...it completely loved the Fusion 180 grain...I put a X-ring on the barrel and it is clearly worth the money...something very unusual is Browning is about the only big manufacturer that puts the. 308 in 1and 12" twist and every other 30 caliber they make is 1 and 10" twist......with no clip and unloaded its one of the lightest rifles around....I would not take less than 3k for it with the Leopold scope..

How didvyou clean the barrel? Bore snake from the breech end or a good quality rod from the muzzle?

Through the muzzle. Take the magazine out and put a towel in to catch everything you push through.

This one shoots really good. I did scrub the barrel after every shot with Sweet’s 7.62 solvent. I think after every shot for the first 10 rounds and then after every 3 shots. It did remove a lot of copper. I did the same thing on my new Ruger 556 MPR and had really good results. My Mark 3 does like the Hornady ELD-X. You won’t be disappointed if you get one.
