Sweet! Beautiful rifle. I too have nothing but trouble with the JBA 348 brass in my 71
@ToadleyBrowne3 жыл бұрын
They do seem to be made up of a different formula of brass. The case design has as much going for it as against it. Sort of works like a wedge. On overpressure loads even with a big taper, there is a lot of surface area to get moving when the case gets even slightly stuck.That 4320 load is a dream to shoot. Thanks!

Those Browning/Miroku’s are nice. The 348 is a hammer of a round. I’d like one of the Browning model 53’s in 32-20 of that same era👍🏻

Wow! I’ve always felt that the Miroku manufactured versions of Winchester / USRA / Browning products often had a quality edge over the originals and were more or less identical in form. The target shotguns I’ve encountered (20 gauge Model 12 and 101 skeet guns in particular) were certainly on par with or exceeded originals. I didn’t realize that the Browning 71 wasn’t a straight up Winchester in detail - it makes me curious if similar manufacturing “refinements” were made to the other classic levers that are so nice, yet maybe not as much of a duplicate as I thought. Good show, Toad!

Thanks! They made modifications to the designs in certain areas for manufacturing throughput. The parts are not interchangeable. Some may be but don't know which ones.

Except for the fact the Browning 71 has no throat to use heavy cast bullet in. I've got both and both are excellent

You have been through a lot. (Too much)Hope you have a room you can hide in with Air Conditioning and pain meds for you and the dog if he is still around. I have had a few of these 1886 apart. Once you do em they are not bad but the screws can show signs of tinkering so I may leave this alone until I get bored:) Get well soon my friend.

@@ToadleyBrowne My little mate lives only in my heart now Mike, lost him 18 months ago at age 19, but he lives on in my heart (and on my phone & ipad). This whole episode would've killed the little bugger and sent Susie round the twist with his yapping. And I still hear his yaps in the early mornings and have to get up and check..... He passed in my arms, he was (and is) my little hero who overcame every obstacle, tried to protect us from all he saw as threats, but never bit anyone (except me when pushed). But we still have 2 old dogs (10 & 14), both rescues who look after the grandkids and fart like you wouldn't believe... So yeah, life goes on, we have a lot to celebrate. Ask if there was any ammo for the gun. My first 348 I had to look and eventually found a few boxes at 75.00 for 20 rounds. Over a few years I eventually found brass and projectiles for handloading. You are right about it being hard to find right now.

How can you say the gun cycles flawlessly when you just showed us it jams because the Browning design with the ejector/ firing pin scrapes a gouge in the primer? If the gun is a jammer, its junk. Switch to the Model 1895...it doesn't jam and the 405 Win will punch a bigger hole that will take a African Lion down...trust T.R.
