My grandma was a heavy smoker in her younger days, and it took an ultimate toll on her body, especially her lungs. About 3 years ago, we had her move into my mom’s house, as she had nobody else to stay with in her old home as my uncle had increasingly got more busy with work. Now, about two months ago, she passed away due to her failing lungs. My parents had me come to her room to see her, and I just stood there at her door, and didn’t say a single thing. I’ve never seen a relative of mine on their death bed before, so it all came as a shock. After learning of her passing, I felt awful. I didn’t even say anything to her, just watched her taking some of her last few breaths. I can only hope she’s at peace, wherever she has gone. Goodbye, Melinda. I hope you’re having fun up there in the City of Gold.
