i feel like her prosperity came from her genuine self acceptance of herself. every time she talks about herself she finishes with"and thats okay." she has no judgment upon herself and therefore is able to accept who she really is and others as they are. she's ego less and she's beautiful.

penile 1 who actually cries at the ocean? Not many people can relate and feel the same connections to it as she claims to feel. There does seem to be something different, if not elevated about her way of being; past any damage that could have been caused from teenage drinking. You have to admit, you don't encounter people like her too often. I surely don't

Genie 4tweeny Funny thing is during my solitude for many years of my mom passing, recently I’ve been guided to the ocean when I’m sad. My spirit makes me go there. Then after listening to this video, i realize how many correlations I have with her story. On top of that we’re both Geminis and both had a rich interesting upbringing that had double tragedies of our parents. Same age also. Kind of mind blowing how my spirit bout me randomly to her talk. The people I associate with these days are my spiritual mentors who practice these things. Its just too coincidental to not think my guardian isn’t putting me here for s reason.

I’m 25 and I’m having my first child in July . And I want to give him the best version of myself that I can and giving him the right tools and foundation to thrive and be a successful black man in a world like ours . 💙🏁

no one, i mean no one, has explained self love to me in a way that made me understand it like she has. i’ve always thought of myself as two beings within myself. who i am, the real me, and this bad evil part that comes with the mental illnesses and self destructive tendencies. but now, i’m thinking, there’s three, if that makes any sense. there’s me, the good, and the bad. and i need to feed the good as much as i do the evil, if not more. i have to starve the evil. bc the good part of me, the one who wants to create and be happy has been starving. i gotta fall in love with the beauty of me. that’s self love.

I think she practices Santería, not Christianity. Like Santería does have roots in Roman Catholicism, but it's main roots are in Yoruba religion, and mixture with indigenous religions of the Americas, largely indigenous Caribbean. Some of my ancestors that are still in Brazil practice Candomblé, which is similar to Santería, and both have similarities (though also key different origins) with Vodoun. And her whole 'witchy' asethetic is part of her connection to Santería. Her song 'Brujas' is about that. It's all still really dope and beautiful though :)

Dante Pereira if you look at some of her videos she has showed some symbolism in relation to Catholicism... which santeria and Catholicism definitely have ties to each other.
@dmp1571
@dmp1571 6 жыл бұрын
I definitely think relations to Catholicism and their symbols are apparent in her work, and I think she was raised with someone in her family who was Catholic (maybe), but Destiny (at least according to her various articles and interviews) says that Santería is her religion and faith, and it's her connection to her mother and grandmother who have both passed. And like we've both said, Santería and Catholicism have a connection, largely based on the enforcement of Catholicism onto indigenous peoples and african slaves who would often pretend to practice Catholicism, but really be practicing their own religions when they were safe (as much as they could be). I think we can all respect and love the fact that she infuses her religion, her culture, her womanhood, her race into her work. Obviously, I'm not Destiny, and I don't practice Santería myself, so this is more a conversation that is her's to have, and not me haha... but I definitely enjoy this dialogue and conversation, and i think it's always important to shine light on religions and faiths around the world that have often been disrespected, and almost erased because it doesn't fit in to what is seen as 'normal' due to white supremacy, racism and colonisation :)

Never heard of Princess Nokia until now. I am thankful for this video. I got the career and hate it, I have been forced to sit in solitude and the awakening phases are crazy. I have neglected my musical talent and now i'm forced into solitude to concentrate.
