I don't mind cutting prices or making good deals at the end of the market to clear my table off. Most customers early in the day don't try to negotiate but when it's close to closing time I'm ready to make someone happy when I shoot them a price and say, "All to go."

Ohio here. At the store, peas/snap peas are $5.50 a pound. Tomatoes $1.49 a lb. Sweet onions $1.29 lb. On facebook some of the farmers have listed absolutely crazy prices. Cucumbers 10 cents each. Tomatoes 25 cents each. Wow. Red bell sweet pepper are $1.25 on sale at the stores. I drove to a farmers stand and they had them 25 cents each. They were HUGE. I bought 2 dozen and gave them $20 just for those. They said stuff was coming in ready to pick and for some reason, customers are really scarce this year. I planted stuff in huge pots this year. I planted six 5 gallon pots of "Santa Claus melons". Those are coming along nicely. I have about 30 ready to pick in another week or so. I will sell some for $7 each. Once you've had one, you'll want more.

I fully agree with you that it's an honest work, But I don't agree with you that it ain't much. The hard work that you and other farmers do to provide food to your community is far off from being "ain't much" on the contrary it is the most important for basic survival. I salute you and your family for you hard work and dedication. Just some uplifting words from a stranger ... Cheers🍺

Maybe one video you could do small interviews of your family and co-workers asking about jobs they like at the farm and their favorite things to harvest or do and so on. How they got into farming and if they think you're a slacker for just talking to a camera while they are working.
@leannekenyoung2 жыл бұрын
Lol! I was wondering the same thing if they thought he was a slacker for holding the camera while others were working and I wondered how in the world could one person hold that many heads of broccoli and still manage to hold a camera?! Way to go!! Congrats on the rain I’ll continue to pray for rain for you. ❤️🙏🏻🥰🇨🇦🫶🏻

Great video. You should separate your imperfect veggies from the rest and sale at slightly lower price
@jfig1202 жыл бұрын
People need to get over the need for vegetables to be absolutely perfect. They all have the same nutritional value and took the same effort to grow. Why should they be cheaper?
@robertsmith18652 жыл бұрын
@@jfig120 I agree with you. But, grocery stores and markets only sell perfect looking fruit and veggies. It has been marketed this way by the media Plus many farmers give imperfect veggies to farm animals thinking no one will buy it, or leave it in the field for compost.
@jfig1202 жыл бұрын
@@robertsmith1865 All true. That needs to change, especially when buying directly from the farmer at a farmer's market. It's , frankly, disrespectful to the person who grew it to expect a discount.... It's asking them to discount the value of their labor and time.
