All the criticisms of this car are addressed in the Suzuki Swift 1.0 GLX Turbo model. Weight, fuel economy, comfort and convenience features, for exactly the same $23K drive away price as the Kia Rio GT-line. The only (subjective) advantage to the Rio over the Swift is it's more masculine chiselled lines. Enjoyed your video Two Dad's, thanks for producing.

I’ve done 10,000kms so far in mine, almost all of it has been hills driving and it has no issues powering up hills and handling tight corners. It loves maxing out rpm and the induction sounds pretty awesome at high rpm for a small 1L (I love that the transmission doesn’t shift too early too). Even with relatively aggressive driving I still max out at an average combined of under 7L/100km. The 7spd transmission shifts fast and smooth and rarely hesitates. Only negative is it’s slightly nose heavy, but they’ve done well to soften that out with suspension tuning. I wish the manual shift mode was inverted because pushing forward to change up feels backwards (maybe I’m just used to race cars). The steering isn’t too light and you can still feel the road. It would be nice to have a more open blow off value to have that “psshh ” sound to let you know there’s a turbo in there. Obviously a new car will never give me the raw driving’s feeling that my old Celica Supra gives me, but for a brand new car in 2019 - it’s pretty good value for money!

entry level first car...... think of countries where you can't afford more expensive...after your bought 2 second handsand they slowly broke on you...and finally you have some money to get a new one...with pay-checks of 550 Euro/ month...it's a solid car not only for beginners...and a good first car...

I am surprised Aussie Kia rio GT model got less options compare to NZ one. NZ got built-in nav, push button to start, blind spot detection, and climate control (which means automatic airconditioning) . btw very good review, enjoyed watching your video :D

My 2012 polo manual has the right torque to power ratio. Gets up hills with no problem. Most cars just don’t have enough torque. It makes a world of difference. Still tempted though to test drive this car in a manual.

It's a GT, supposedly sporty, no manual, no sports cred. Autos could be claimed to be more efficient or 'better' but a GT should at least have the manual as an option. Driving for pleasure is about feel and connection with the vehicle, a manual shift is part of that experience.

It can vary with dealerships. I used to go to Kia Ashfield, which had absolutely shocking service, but Phil Gilbert up the road is the complete opposite.

I had a cerato koup. Bought and serviced at peter warren. Cannot complain about their sales or service. Excellent.

It needs a nicer interiot like the new Cerato. But for $23K, you're already talking base Cerato or Mazda 3 money. I don't hate this car, makes a great car for parking at the train station everyday.

1176 kg is not light (for the class), it's actually quite porky and it shows in the comparative fuel economy. A Mazda 2 @ 1058 kg is average, and a Suzuki Swift GLX turbo @ 945 kg is light (non-turbo is sub 900 kgs)

I dont want built in nav. I dont care about manual ac. A lot of the stuff demanded now isnt necessary. First world problems. A 1 litre car which weighs nearly 1200kg... 800kg with 120hp would be wicked.

Apart from being saying it's "fun" too much and reeling off some manufacturer specifications, you two didn't really say anything about it. What makes it fun? Another reviewer talks about the stop start, shows us the cornering lights, gets down on his knees to point out body features, shows the spare wheel and its flimsy lid, and gives his opinion of Kia as a company, amongst other. I get that you have to watch what you say if you want to be given cars to review, but avoiding saying anything at all apart from being fun for ten minutes isn't really reviewing.

I bought a new Cerato Sport + in 2018 after watching your video. Kept it for a year, very disappointed with build quality not to mention harsh ride and road noise. Also the asthmatic engine and cheap rent interior. Don’t bother just buy a Toyota.
