On July 25th 1991, I lost my girlfriend . she died in a plane crash in a forest of kaoris in the mountains of Santo in Vanuatu . Cassandra Clunies Ross was 25 years old. She was a VSO volunteer working in forestry.WE found her camera ,processed the film and her last shot was of a kaori tree.I also had a cd by bruce Cockburn with this song on it. Probably listened to this song a 1000 times and every time I cried not only because I was devastated but also because this is a superb song.

NORMALIZATION OF IGNORANCE sometimes it takes raising awareness of the situation to get more involved and through the collective joining of attention, intention, and forces, coming together to create a solution. He can’t do it all himself! Join in and be proactive yourself instead of grumbling. That’s like complaining when someone has given you the menu at at restaurant. It’s your choice. Your responsibility. Don’t expect one person to do everything and then you get to sit back and say whether it’s worthy or not. It’s your life. Get involved. What’s your plan?
@arrow-lo7jf5 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but I am in no way grumbling , I am %100 serious . The human race is a not worthy of this planet. What more do you need to see in this world before you come to the same conclusion.You really think there is a solution to this madness, we lost this planet year's ago when the corporations bought it, a death sentence for us all, they do not care for you or me or this planet, nothing will change unless people are willing to die to change it, are you ready to die for your cause ? revolution is the only way, and to be honest, people are to consumed with their own greed and standard of living to give a shit. and you seem smart enough to know that, where you going to go tomorrow, WORK or a SAVE THE WORLD RALLY, I rest my case...peace.
@priscillahudson36255 жыл бұрын
arrow64 64 it is what I am doing and what I do every day; bitching and complaining only makes for a more miserable existence and pushes people away from doing anything about it because they want to get away from misery, so instead of encouraging people to be proactive, the negativity only encourages more people to check out-or that’s what I’ve observed in the last 20 years of my personal activism. Personal responsibility and something to work for other than “we’re doomed” because then it’s just “eat,drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die”.

He's one of our Canadian treasures. From Ottawa moved to my home city Toronto where he did most of his work. This "protest song" was almost uncool in the greed soaked 1980s. It was way ahead of the times. The world needs to hear it now and weep and ask for forgiveness.

This is a video everyone on Earth should see! Greatness in every aspect of music and video production to truly get a message across ... and to boot being a vegetarian (at least I was from the age of 17 and 3/4) leads to a healthier existence and makes it easier on the planet, the environment and everyone. I'm sharing this baby on Facebook everyday! You should too!

You hit the nail on the head with that one Bruce. If only people would listen. Definitely your best work.

I have seen the best of the best in my time. That probably doesn't come close to what was. This man is not only the best songwriter I've ever heard..hes the the best guitar player I've ever seen. Truly, and what a gentleman. I floated back to my camper trailer at the Winnipeg folk festival 2006....sober and had the best sleep i ever had.. I am 54 years past, and my son is 3. He loves Bruce as much as me. EXTRAORDINARY.
