Just outstanding!!! Bruce is just gritting the refrain through his teeth here and the guitar break is perfect, incredibly articulate but complementary to the melody and spirit.

ever since i heard this song back in the previous century i've always loved and felt his, sincerity, intenseness and righteous anger. Bravo Bruce and Jan-Douwe

Way better than the studio version out of 1984. Just heard that because I bought the Stealing Fire LP. Now I need to find the 7"-version of this since I want to get rid of the CDS;)

Strongest protest song I know - so far. Another favorite: Lives in the balance, by Jackson Browne. Both about America's dirty wars, and both old. Can you suggest more recent songs so outspoken about political or economic injustice?

If necessary, anybody can take up arms, and sometimes the power of lyrics can be stronger than all the weapons in the world. During the American civil war, high school teachers found themselves leading a platoon into battle.
