They were all there. Bruce was in the vocal booth, they were in the control room. Bruce tells the story of how they all huddled together and just left him there as they made the decision. This wasn't the first time playing together, though. They'd already jammed.

Incredible how tight this band was in the rehearsal space ...many bands with pro tools and all modern technology at their disposal wouldn´t have a clue where to start emulating what I hear in this "rehearsal demo " (??!! ). This is fire ,won´t get much more Metal than this...1st saw them on the 7h tour of a 7th tour with Helloween opening -you might not believe it but there were still pretty strong residues of what I hear in this . @@straty5598 Punk and metal are not as far apart as some gatekeepers on either side seem to think. Yeah, punk is generally more stripped down and simplified in song structures, but heck so is AC/DC, and they're usually labeled metal or even just hard rock. Paul DiAnno was into punk rock before joining Iron Maiden. The other band members got him also listening to more metal-oriented bands like UFO. But I don't think he ever stopped liking punk bands like the Ramones, too. DiAnno's vocal style was definitely more on the punky side, very gruff and harsh (in a good way). That's probably what people are thinking of when they say that early Iron Maiden had a bit of a punk edge. But don't say that to Steve Harris if you ever get the chance to meet him. He does NOT like that description! 🤣
@straty5598
@straty5598 Ай бұрын
@deantodd8103 I don't really hear it to be honest, I can maybe see it in Paul's appearance. He definitely had a lot of attitude in his early days but I was surrounded by punk back in those days and Maiden weren't it. There's a reason Steve Harris doesn't agree with the comparisons, he doesn't hear it either...

Bruce is great, he even tries to sing close to what these gifts from IRON's first albums did, they belong to Dianno and no one can take that away, if he sang like that to this day, he wouldn't have a throat anymore! Hugs from Brazil. Bruce é ótimo, até se esforça para cantar próximo do que esses dons dos primeiros discos do IRON exigem, eles pertencem ao Dianno e ninguém tira isso, se ele cantasse assim até hoje, não teria mais garganta! This shows all of Bruce talent: this was an audition and he clearly adapted his voice to Di Anno's tempo and tone, with a light touch of his classic operatic-soprano voice...the next album he will totally replace Di Anno's punk-style-voice trademark and stablish his own style, then, years before, he will play this same songs at his own way. Killers ficou sensacional!

I love all that Bruce did but those first albums with Paul have some of my favorite Iron Maiden tunes that only Paul could do . Iron Maiden is played in so many of my happy memories as a teenager ! Love them !

Does anyone remember Bruce, about 1984, in those harlequin tights that sagged at the gusset? Since then, for 40 years, I can't listen to IM without thinking of that spandex.

Bruce and the 80's lineup got me into Maiden but those first two records are the best they've made. There's something really special going on there imo

Each singer does their songs best and I can't imagine either of them doing the others better than they do themselves. Who do I like better? I'm undecided because I like the first four albums the best and would have a hard time picking one

One unique thing that I love about Maiden is each guitar player usually gets a solo in every song, and they’re completely different styles. Dave was super fast and smooth, while Adrian could always hit those memorable notes.

I like both Bruce and Paul’s vocals. Both in remember tomorrow, but Bruce did it better in one part. In the part of “yesterday sorrows”, I felt Paul kinda rushed it a bit and the beat is a slower one. But, Bruce slowed it down a bit and fits better.

I was introduced to Iron Maiden by the 1990 album and they became my #1 rock band long time (To say nothing of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and such greats). Then I listened to the 1981 album and others. Both albums have their own good singer. I like Paul Di'Anno's voice (RIP) on the 1981 album better.

His vibrato is strange for me to hear in these songs, given that Paul didn't have that. I like Paul's versions a little better but this is bad ass! And it all really started with Number of the Beast...Love Maiden! Truly amazing band and still to this fucking day!!!!💀☠️🤘🏻
