Renowned around the world as one of the greatest and most distinctive heavy metal vocalists of all time, Bruce Dickinson is best known as the lead singer of the iconic British band, Iron Maiden, who he joined in 1981 and who have sold well over 100 million albums. He has also become globally renowned as an author, pilot, broadcaster, brewer, businessman, sportsman, spoken-word performer, screenwriter and internationally successful solo artist.
His first solo album, Tattooed Millionaire, was released in May 1990, with its follow-up Balls To Picasso four years later (1994). It was on this second album that Dickinson first started working with guitarist Roy Z and despite a one album hiatus, he was joined again by him for all his subsequent solo studio albums - Accident Of Birth (1997), The Chemical Wedding (1998) and Tyranny Of Souls (2005).
Always on the back burner was a desire to create another solo musical project and in 2021 Dickinson finally had the opportunity to focus on that anew. He turned once more to Roy Z to work on some unfinished ideas together and that rapidly became his forthcoming seventh studio album: The Mandrake Project

I wonder what this song is about. I know its about alchemy And stuff like that. But what did inspire mister Bruce that He made this song? Was it because William Blake or Aleister crowley? What is the meaning behind this beautiful piece of art?? Bruce is the best Singer on this planet. There was, isn't And never will be a better singer than this man. Yes, it is beautiful piece of art. But, Bruce is involved in some weird stuff. His praise for Crowley tells me a lot about him as a person.

I think that he is referring the 'alchemist' as an interstellar god or something, as he mentions in the lyrics finding a star in Taurus to start creating a world.

To understand anything from those lyrics you need to be familiar with concept of gnosticism. Both Crowley and Blake were gostics, I guess Bruce is also. In the lyrics alchemist accuse his creator for that, he is not true God, but the demon of intellect and creation called Demiurge or Urizen (in case of Blake's system), because he is not complete and lacks female element. We have very similar text in Polish literature - Great Improvisation by Adam Mickiewicz. Gnostics percived material world as a demonic realm and prison for the souls, created by destruction of Platonic state of primeval unity, in which evrything was connected together and souls were linked with God. Main goal of alchemists was to recreate that state by linking together men's and female elemnts of the world, symbolised by the Sun and the Moon, also gold and silver. If you are into gaming entire lore in Elden Ring is based on exactly same concept with Radagon-Marika dual nature, and Frenzied Flame which goal is to melt evrything back in one unity.
