I was a Senior in High School when Bruce dropped this gem. I rushed to the record store to buy it. I let my homies listen to it and of course they wasn't feeling it. Fast forward to 10 years later, Tupac drops changes. They were hyped... I tried to tell them yall heard this before and of course they looked puzzled. I just shook my head because some people just don't get it.

It’s like the song said SOME MILLIONS OF PEOPLE NEVER GOING TO CHANGE “ …….for sure. It’s They are STATES OF MINDS The worst part is that are bunches of people living behind those problems, they are happy because many people don’t wake up, don’t unfold their eyes. Peace ☮️

He goes from the vocal run to the piano run - it's just mesmerizing.

Bruce Hornsby is incredible. This song was super famous, a big hit, on MTV 24/7 back in the day. It's a masterpiece of musicality, vocals and message.

Hornsby is 6'5" and played semi-pro, College and High School basketball. He is from across the water from me. I'm in Virginia Beach, VA and he's from Newport News, Williamsburg area. Steeler's Coach Mike Tomlin is from there.

Ah! Bruce took piano lessons! You see how he holds his wrists up? People who pick up the piano on their own don't do that, but a good piano teacher will make you hold your wrists up, it lends strength to your attack.

Can't believe I'm reacting & reliving my teenage years. This came out when Tupac and myself were 15. Played on radio constantly. ❤

It is so easy to see why Tupac wanted to redo this song. It was no slight, it was appreciation for the Hornsby's music and message. He just touched it up and fleshed it out as only he could do.

Bruce such a badass that even after his major success with this tune, when offered the the chance to play piano with the Grateful Dead on their last shows, he jumped at at the chance. A true musicians musician. And PAC didn’t sample it, Bruce played on Changes. Just like Sting actually played and sang on Puff’s Every Breath, not sampled. As Snoop says, “ Game recognize Game”, and if you 10-20 years past superstar status and get a call that someone wants to lift a groove from one of your decades old hits, you go do a collab! Get your name back out there.

Is it weird that Bruce Hornsby's piano playing turns me on? 🙈 It's just so bloody STYLISH! And the message behind the song about black rights is fucking excellent, especially for 1987. Loved seeing you enjoy this and hi from Australia 😊

I knew the main piano riff for years, but I didn't know who it was until a year ago. Now, I really like this song, and it has a great message. When I heard about 2Pac's "Changes," I watch the video and I thought he did a good job with it. I think, Bruce Hornsby liked it as well. His song "Mandolin Rain" is a good one. Great reaction! Thank you.

You think Bruce liked it?!? Every time Bruce plays it, he says something to the effect of "here's a song by Tupac!"

“And I must say I like the checks,” Hornsby said of the royalties he receives from “Changes.” “I was sort of floored by [2Pac’s creativity]. I thought he was so clever, and really profound, and deep. There’s a lot of gravitas to Tupac’s music, to me"

🎹🎹🎹🎶💯great reaction‼️ I knew you would like this one. I listened to a whole lot of Bruce especially in the eighties. This album was stellar and always played in my house. I had the pleasure of seeing this man twice in person and he puts on a great show you never want to end. And yes, he is Mr. Piano Man🎹💯. Some other suggestions from this album would be Mandolin Rain, Valley Road. Can't go wrong. Never known any of his videos to be blocked so go for it🎶

One of the most socially aware Icons of all time got his song from a "real white guy" doing his part for humanity...I wouldn't call what 2 Pac did a sample it was more of a cover song...This song is Bruce's! I had been requesting a reaction to this song from every reactor that had a 2 Pac's photo on their wall for years...Now my KZbin pop ups are full of reactions to it. Like to think I may have played a small roll in getting this song back out there.

Agree. Grew up in the 70's, if you lifted an original riff or hook from someone else's song on your's your sales hit the toilet We didn't suffer copycats at all.

I want to celebrate you and everyone in your generation! You get it, music transcends your soul if you let it. Kudos. Unfortunately, I am from the generation that was going to end this pandemic of racial hatred. We, or I at least did because I cry seeing young adults anticipating the lyrics and sadly one must admit that nothing has changed. Music execs panicked when he was dropping another song/album because he has a passion for calling out racism. You must, 🙏 please watch his song Look Out Any Window. In 1 song he obliterates the government and paid politicians. Suddenly, they left him alone. Oops

Kelly?………….these problems goes really far away from US, but sadly many millions are blinded and focused in grandma or grandpa were telling them from the past. Yes is the past but just AMERICAN PAST. Those problems are so ancients, they are coming with the humanity. Racism, discrimination, segregation idiosyncrasies, traditions Those are bad human behaviors. You can find them in everywhere, in any country. I’m Cuban black male and I grew up in a country that the Government was saying all the time “ there’s no racism “ and criticized every time to US Government for their abuse against blacks. But the racism, segregation and discrimination was /is there in a country that has three main different races. You don’t see racism between poor peoples, but if you wanna change your standards, there start the problems. I think now in America 🇺🇸 is more easy to see how other races are living. We aren’t in the 60’s. The only thing that discriminated people has to do is LOOK AROUND AND SEE for themselves how others minorities (Spanish) are living. You can see how many people that has different skin colors are gathered together. Wake up, wake up guys and your life are going to CHANGE FOREVER. Peace ☮️

I see you are new to doing reactions. You do need to pause the video, any kind of video, music, movie...if someone else made it, you have to pause it. We understand, we know you have to do it. I don't know the specifics, but I think you can play the video for about three and 1/2 minutes before you pause it. If you don't, your videos can be blocked and/or demonetized. You don't have to do a long pause, you can pause and say "quick pause" or something like that, then go on. Many reactors pause longer and begin analyzing the song for a couple minutes before resuming. That's ok with some viewers, I hate it. It makes me think the reactor lied when they said they never heard the song before. How can they know so much about it if they didn't listen to it before making their video? You did a very nice reaction. I don't want to see you lose your money, so do make a brief pause to acknowledge copyright. Edit: So I looked at how long you can play a copyrighted song and the answer sucks, it can be as short as five seconds. There is no hard and fast rule. Older music may be out of copyright, in which case you can play all the way through. But often, someone with deep pockets has bought and renewed the copyright. What you can do is, as you get more viewers, you can pick up advertisers who will pay you to run their short commercials. If you are comfortable with public speaking, you can do the commercials yourself and can control where you place them.
