Bruce Hornsby left an indelible mark on the West Coast sound of the 1980s in California. A composer, musician and singer, Bruce Hornsby is equally at home in jazz, rock, funk, classical music and blues, and is also a seasoned and acclaimed bluegrass musician. He also played with the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia, before making a name for himself on the silver screen, in the film "World's Greatest Dad", with Robin Williams, or Backdraft. The song was sampled by Tupac on the track "Changes" ft Talent released in 98. Thanks and Happy New Year !!!!!

My first apartment was just across a creek and a street from an auditorium. The night I moved in, there was a music festival going on in the park on front of that auditorium, and when I went out on my back porch Bruce Hornsby was playing this song, and I could hear it very clearly. It wasn't my thing at the time as a punk rock kid, but I stayed out there for the rest of the concert. He was fantastic. On theme: That apartment was a decent-sized 2/2 and cost me $365 a month in 1989. It now goes for $1700, with no significant upgrades. The cost of it quadrupled, but minimum wage has barely doubled in that time, and that was a complex marketed to freshman college kids with those jobs. We all had roommates. It's not like that now.

Bruce Hornsby, a native of Williamsburg, Virginia, is my all time favorite person in Rock and Roll, and a great musician, songwriter and human being. No wonder the Good Ol' Grateful Dead wanted him to play with them for a couple of years in the early 1990's. Had the pleasure of seeing him play live on many occasions, both with The Range, and when he played with The Dead, and he was always the same, FANTASTIC. Thanks Teez, hope you enjoyed it, sounds like you did.

TOTP stands for Top of the Pops, a live music show in the UK. All the hugest stars played on there like the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Supremes...really just every great artist.
