met him at six flags/great adventure amusement park, in jackson, nj, many summers ago, in the 90’s, while he was touring with the grateful dead. he was there with his wife and twin sons on a day off from the tour. we were all in line for a roller coaster, and i recognized him, pointed at him, grinned, and he smiled and nodded, letting me know that, yes, i’m who you think i am. i simply said, “i hope you all have a wonderful day”, and he extended the same back to me. very nice moment, very nice memory.

if everyone treated 'stars' that way i bet they would all be so thankful! they are people a lot more like us than we act - nice story.

This song came out when I was a freshman in high school. Beautiful. It reminds me of northern Ohio blanketed with snow in the winter.

Beautiful, puts the melody in the lower register on the left hand and his right comps. Really fills it out and compensates for the lack of a band. Brilliant musician. Love his Dylan-esque delivery too. Would love to hear a recorded version like this. Then he cuts loose on the solo!

I had the great pleasure to work with Bruce once several years ago. It was nice then, as it is now, to see the smile on his face when he plays this melody. It's amazing to me that after the millions of times he must of played this, that it still brings him and us so much joy. Timeless.

I saw him in Boise around 1988. Amazing of course. In those days, he played the songs mostly like we heard them on the album and we loved him for it. As he matured and branched into jazz, he was more free with the arrangements and tempo of these classics. So cool. Like hearing a completely new song that I still love from the start.

I’m a head, but god I love this song! What I would give to hear the Dead play this just once...The thought of Jerry’s melodic soloing, bursting into bloom over this tune brings tears to my eyes. The joy that would have created for all who experienced it...mmm...that would have been something else...
