As soon as I saw that last case, I knew the guitar inside would be an SG, and when Bruce pulled it out I was in shock at how pristine it looked for a guitar that had been on the road so long ago - except for the back, which is to be expected. I especially loved the ESP Explorer because my main guitar is a Gibson custom EX2. I just love the neck, and it stays in perfect tune! Another fantastic vlog, Jordan! 🦁♥️

I always loved those simple BC Rich Gunslingers and almost bought one in '87, but it had a slanted rather that straight pickup. It came with a proto DiMarzio Super 3, before it was marketed and sold separately as the Super 3. What most players did with this guitar was replace the DiMarzio, often with a Duncan JB, sometimes with an EMG. The Gunslinger was meant to appeal to the straight ahead rockers who loved guitars like the Kramer Baretta, and I owned a few of those.

It's hard to convey just how larger than life KISS was when compared to other musical acts back in the 70s. They were the true definition of Rock Gods. We never saw their real faces - there was no internet after all - so they were mysterious as well and were able to remain so for years. I remember in 1977 in 2nd grade, I would take my KISS Alive II album to school every day and listen to it during recess. I got three other kids to join me and perform air guitar to Dr Love in front of the class. That teacher must have been cool to entertain these fantasies. But one day I was unable to listen to the record for some reason and threw a chair in the classroom. Parents were called and that was the end of the KISS Alive II record - my dad made me smash it to pieces. I wouldn't own any rock records again for several years, until about 1982-83 when I bought Iron Maiden, Van Halen and Motley Crue and it started all over again. But I never threw another chair in a classroom.

Great video! So him and Gene Simmons had the idea for the first “relics” before they became the thing. That old SG is the same model Carlos Santana used to great effect in Woodstock in 1969. Also The Who’s golden era coincided with Pete Townshend’s use of that model, starting in ‘67 through about ‘71-‘72.

Ahh, 'buckle-rash'; the scourge of guitar players. fun trivia; if you watch old episodes of The Monkees, you'll often see Peter Tork wore his belt buckle off to the side. Real musicians do this to avoid marring up the backsides of their guitars when they move around on stage (hence the term; buckle rash).
