Not so fun fact: it is now believed that Bruce Lee died because he had a procedure to remove sweat glands off his body. He did this to appear less sweaty while filming, but it may have actually resulted in him overheating (don't forget the end of the video specified that the AC was off) and dying. It really is tragic to think that he could have lived so much longer.
@dingfeldersmurfalot4560
@dingfeldersmurfalot4560 5 жыл бұрын
@@tysquirt111 Engage in two things please: 1. Basic biology. Humans have the most widely dispersed sweat glands in the animal kingdom. They are literally everywhere on the human body. Such an operation would not and cannot exist. Okay I should end there, but just to throw in a little something to beat back the credulity on such matters: 2. Sweat is basic and extremely attractive in action movies. You'll see people sweating in the cold, in any remotely hot or active setting or situation, and of course streaming sweat in, dare I say it, pornos. Sweat is does not detract from an "action" (ahem) scene, it enhances it. Go ahead and try to remove a thousand sweat blands from the human body ... not only is it crazy, but it's actually counter-gproductive. If you're playing an FBI agent -- don't sweat a drop. If you're playing a physically active star, enhance the feel of physical activity by showing all the ... yep, you guessed it ... sweat.
@tysquirt111
@tysquirt111 5 жыл бұрын
@@dingfeldersmurfalot4560 bruce lee had the sweat glands under his armpits removed. This is pretty common knowledge. Any one of the hundreds of biographies on his will say that. I didn't mean all his sweat glands, just those. And they are extremely important. Heat stroke usually presents with swelling of the brain, which is what Lee allegedly died of. You're speaking of sweat as though you're talking about modern films. Bruce Lee was not a modern actor. Sweat stains under his arms annoyed him and he had them removed.
@dingfeldersmurfalot4560
@dingfeldersmurfalot4560 5 жыл бұрын
@@tysquirt111 This is probably the most bizarre theory regarding his death that I've ever seen, and I started in the early 70's. This is not at all something any of the hundreds of biographies of him will affirm, if there even are hundreds of biographies of him that are more than the crazy Hong Kong journalism of the time represent, which ascribed to him everything from Satanic ritual to Buddhist sainthood. Again, the human body has thousands of sweat glands, far more than all animals but dogs and wolves. Lee couldn't have taken his sweat glands out, to any appreciable extent, even if he had wanted to -- and for an action star, he wouldn't have. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but there simply isn't much sense in this theory. Think it through for at least a few moments, and you will likely settle in on a more sensible explanation.

Thank you Simon... for this one in particular. Every since as a young teen I saw Kato in the Green Hornet series, I fell for Bruce Lee. Now I don’t do martial art, or anything really physical, but that was not what caught me.. it was his style, his calmness his demeanour his way of talking so soft spoken you just had to listen. Yes so much has been said about this great man and it’s great you added your voice and research to solidify my love for such a man as the world will never see his better. He will always remain the top. Sounds like worship, it’s not, just true appreciation of a great leader. Some of the documentaries about him are also very revealing and great. Thank you again. An excellent and accurate biography there. I salute you. I can only add that Yip Man only gave Bruce a handful of lessons in Wing Chun. Bruce was largely taught by Yip Man’s top student, Wong Shun Leung. Bruce also didn’t consider Jeet Kune Do to be a style in it’s own right, but rather a philosophy on effective martial arts.

The one thing missed from this video was his influence on martial arts as a whole which also influenced his movies. Bruce Lee was an avid student of other martial arts, some of which came from his boxing training but also from working with jujitsu expert Wally Jay who believed in bringing in other martial arts into someone's training. Lee brought in other marital arts techniques into his fighting style which would later be known as Jee Kwon Do. In the book that Lee later published there are a variety of martial arts techniques which are not native to Kung Fu. In short Bruce Lee is also one of the first proponents of mixed martial arts. He also revolutionized the fighting in martial arts movies by adding other techniques, for instance the high kicking style see in his movies are more Korean influence than Chinese. Lee also influenced other marital artists and probably is the one responsible for many people studying the martial arts in the first place.

Bruce Lee was more than just a martial artist, or than a movie star. I was an icon. His philosophy itself could take up an entire video. Bruce taught us to be like water. Not to fight life, but to fill the spaces that life reveals to us, the openings it creates when we aren’t even aware of them. He lived by not getting frustrated when he lost out on Kung Fu. There will never be another Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee feel in love with the art of fighting since childhood. Ironically, he was of slight build and not of a robust body type. A true legend - got his photo on my bedroom wall

What my karate teacher taught me - if you can avoid fighting do so - the best thing to do - is to run away...if you need to... defend yourself... then run..fighting is a last resort...

Simon, it is not the most complete bio of Bruce Lee but in 17 mins is pretty damn good. (y) Another great video , Simon :) I think i have seen most of this channel's videos but there is no way i'm watching a bio of a fool ( Pierce Morgan) not even if it is 1minute long. lol

Well done, but I believe you left out the fact that Betty gave Bruce one of her equagesic's before he laid down. That is what caused the next cerebral edema event that ultimately took his life (allergic reaction to her medication).
