man, if Bruce Lee were to live to complete this film, i think this film would top "Enter The Dragon". This film was to show case his philosophy, his art and his style of "Jeet Kun Do" a way of an intercepting fist. @@pablo9364yes I thought so too. Knowledge vs ignorance. Light vs the dark. Same way real Bruce vs his pride/ignorance. But yeah with the technology at that time, it wouldn't have been possible to create such a scene, unless they casted someone as his body double. But the main issue with that would've been, nobody would've looked as ripped as Lee so it would've been obvious to the audience that it's somebody else and thus they would've failed to generate any impact.

Game of Death was the most challenging achievement of Lee's career.Unfortunately Bruce never lived to see the complete version of his artistic vision come to life on the silver screen.Without a doubt it clearly demonstrates how he evolved as a martial artist and film maker.Had he lived he would have been an incredible director in addition to being a martial arts legend.
but he chose the wrong way of life. in the month before the end of his life, he drank 10-20 bottles of sake daily, smoked weed and had an affair.

50 years since Bruce Lee passed away and he has left a considerable legacy. It's most unfortunate he didn’t complete his version of "Game of Death." This footage, from August to October 1972, offers a fascinating glimpse at what might have been.

I'm also from Vancouver (well born and raised in Burnaby) so I'm familiar with what you are saying. While you were watching Bruce on TV I had already seen Fists of Fury, Chinese Connection, and Return of the Dragon in movie theatres down in that part of Van. I saw Enter the Dragon at Lougheed Mall back when it had its 3 theatres. All before I was 11 (I'm now soon pushing 60). Like you I'm a life long fan and admirer of Bruce who's style and philosophical outlooks have had a profound influence on who I am today. After he died and Linda brought him back to Seattle for burial my parents drove down to pay our respects. At that time there was just a small plaque on the ground. Over the years I have been to Seattle 7 or 8 times always making a point of stopping at Lakeview Cemetery to say Hello and Thank-you to Bruce and am glad to see his final place of rest has become a shrine much more fitting to a man like Bruce and his son. Stay cool Firefly and always remember 'Be Water'. The ability to adapt to any situation is one of the most important skills to learn in this world.

That was Lee's real martial arts philosophy, at least when it came to the physical...protecting your self at all cost. Lee understood the concept of real street fighting. If you encounter a guy who is 6 feet, 5 inches and a whopping 300 pounds, you do whatever you have to do to protect your "LIFE." That's how Bruce Lee envisioned every possible street fight--you may have to fight to the death. Unfortunately, many people have died in street fights because they never considered the cost of life.

Unfortunately, the last soundtracks added (in the fight against Abdul Jabbar) doesn't fit in good way to the scenes, it sounds modern, like a fight videogame, and it sounds good but it doesn't match to the ambience and style from the original soundtrack. Plus, when this soundtracks was added, the voices and sounds from the actors lost presence.

The biggest thing that stands out is the Ji Han Jae (Hapkido master) footage. So much of his good footage was left out that in Game of Death he looked like a bit of a pushover, easily defeated by Bruce Lee. But in the unedited fight he showed masterful spin kicks and smoothness. The techniques he exhibited were the best example in an action movie of the concept of blending with the attack (Aiki) even Steven Seagal at his peak didn't quite film it as well as Ji Han Jae. The other thing was Master Jae had at the time completed a tour of Vietnam teaching the ROK armed forces (something he did for some time) and had likely been challenged and tested in ways Bruce Lee and others had not. I think the martial arts world missed out on a great opportunity to see this man in unrestricted action.

Yes, pz3j, it's true he has a lot to share if he is still alive but he had learned everything he needed in martial Arts, and he was a real innovative martial Artist. If he had not died some 49/50 years ago, he would have created many innovative martial Arts techniques and/or new schools and movies that would take the Hong Kon movie industry to its highest peak and level. But the movie industry is a business like any others and competition is the key, together with some evil business entrepreneurs looking to make money and gain advantages in their movie businesses, they would do anything to get rid of Bruce Lee. I am a martial artist myself, so I don't believe that Bruce died suddenly because of overtraining. He might be weaker but would not have died because he was only about 33 years old. Someone that age with solid martial art background and body could not possibly die so suddenly. It would take at least 10 to 20 years for Bruce to die if overtraining was the cause of his death.

@Dark Knowledge point based system dont prove much. bruce-lee was all encompassing. surely he could fight very well. a guy who cant fight wont sit and make movies about fighting and directs them and also trains big stars. He had to fight in san=francisco to coach and he wont that fight. after that they just let bruce-lee do his thing. he was revered in hk for a reason. chuck-norris himself said pound per pound for his weight he was damn good. he was a world champ and wont be ready to take a fall unless he thinks opponent is special--even in movies! van-dam is the closest you can think of as a fighter come actor( he has records to prove but he is not mme). An mme fighter has no chance against a boxer knock out( but that is weight based just like mme) bol-bol who fought with both in movies said after bruce only van-damn comes close! you can see here, he is not there to score points. it is game of death or survival. he was charismatic and unless you have that it factor, people wont follow you.

As far as I know there is no actual proof that Lee was too fast for the cameras to catch other than anecdotal evidence and hearsay. However, movie cameras in the ’60s and ‘early 70s were not as good or fast as modern ones, so it wasn’t uncommon for fast action to blur in the film, making this a completely believable assertion.
