Bruce Lee died in 1973 when he was making Game Of Death. The movie was released with new footage with a double (wearing sunglasses in every scene) who resembled Lee and the fighting scenes with famous basketball player Karem Abdul Jabbar as the tall opponent were added to the film release. I I was a teenager when BL died and he was popular everywhere even in Australia. I rented his moves in the 1980s. My favourite movie is Enter The Dragon and Fist Of Fury. I have the DVD of the Directors' Cut of The Big Boss. The audio commentary will explain why there is a difference between the languages Cantonese and Mandarin.

As I said in the video I'm relatively new to all of this and I tried to remember as much as I could but unfortunately there was some things I could not remember and Game of Death being one of them so a huge thanks for let me know about that. Right then folks, I mean Keith, here are answers to your questions with the corresponding timestamps: 6:15 - I believe Warner Bros prevented Arrow Video from including their own logo on the spine of Enter the Dragon to match the other spines. After all it is essentially the recycled 2013 (40th Anniversary) Blu-ray from Warner Bros. If that movie was not included in this Boxset people would have grumbled and even though it is included people are still complaining about it. Why isn't it on 4K UHD etc. Well obviously Warner Bros have their own forthcoming 4K UHD release due out next month for the 50th Anniversary so it was nigh on impossible they'd have allowed another company release it. Arrow Video can't win no matter what they did about Enter the Dragon. 7:17 - Yes, that is the original Theatrical Cut art work for The Big Boss 7:45 - The Mandarin Cut (pronounced like the fruit Mandarine, but spelt without the e at the end) is the 'almost' full uncut version of the movie that is 10 mins longer than the Theatrical Cut that was shown in other terrortories. 8:30 - No, Fist of Fury is not the movie that Bruce Lee was unable to finish making. That is Game of Death. He interrupted filming to fly abroad to work on Enter the Dragon and sadly passed away two weeks before that movie premiered and therefore was unable to complete the filming of Game of Death. 9:30 - Yes, Bruce Lee does fight Chuck Norris in The Way of the Dragon. The art work for this movie behind the disc and on the included poster is odd because clearly Bruce was holding a pair of Nunchakus in his right hand but they have been erased (likely because it was classed as an illegal weapon for many years in the UK?). 11:00 - Yes, Bruce Lee fights Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who is 7 feet 2 inch in Game of Death. A basketball legend! 13:15 - Game of Death II is essentially a Bruceploitation movie. The only Bruce Lee appearances are of his real life funeral and some outtake footage from Enter the Dragon, I believe? I've not seen this movie yet. 14:00 - Bruce Lee: The Man and the Legend (1973) examines the life and the untimely death of Superstar Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee: The Legend (1984) is the official Golden Harvest tribute to the master of the martial arts, Bruce Lee. Both are documentaries about Bruce Lee. 15:07 - *yellow *not* red and black on the back of the book. 16:30 - The Boxset title is the clue...Bruce Lee at Golden Harvest, is likely one of the reasons no lobby cards for Enter the Dragon were included in this set. Also, Warner Bros included postcards in their previous 2013 (40th Anniversary) Blu-ray release and also they're including some in their upcoming Ultimate Collector's Edition 4K UHD. 18:30 - The black and white photos looks to be publicity stills for Fist of Fury. Can’t believe you’ve never seen any BL movies before Kieth. Uncross your fingers because you have touched on some nostalgic cinema here my friend. I got the ‘yellow’ edition direct from Arrow. Mainly because I preferred the art work and ‘yellow’ was reminiscent of Enter the Dragon, even it’s not a 4K disc. Thankfully it’s getting a 4K release which is already on pre order. This set is something quiet special. Even if you don’t find the films your ‘cup o tea’ to have this in your collection, well it’s a must have! I’m sure you’ll really appreciate what your seeing. I’m half way through watching mine and I can tell you I have never seen anything so good as this. The picture quality is massive upgrade. Standard audio for the most parts. But Jammed with features, you can’t go wrong. Any serious film collection has to have this collection. You’ll love it I’m willing to bet on it. Wow it’s top class presentation. Hey Steve. Like I said in the video This Is The Crown Jewel of arrow videos collection. I have never seen this much work going into one collection before and as soon as I got this in my hands I knew I made the right decision regardless of what I think of the movies. I was meant to start them this weekend but unfortunately something came up so I will have to leave it for this weekend coming and I can't wait to start them and I hope they live up to the hype. Correction I know they will. I have started some of the special features and I've had a great time with them and I feel like Im getting a better understanding of what he's all about. I will definitely be revisiting this edition sometime in the future maybe when I pick up the deluxe release of Enter the Dragon and share my thoughts on each movie. I've checked out three of them so far just so I can get a good idea of the picture quality and my god they looked sensational and I know the audio sounds a little thin but I was really expecting that. I think if they gave them 7.1 audio on these releases it would've sounded even worse. Some movies should be left to mono. Having said that I have no experience when it comes to these movies. The martial arts genre is so wide...there is always a sub genre that will appeal to someone 🤩👍 actually the 5.1 surround sound Bruce Lee movies don't sound that good actually, these soundtracks are by far the best 👍👍 great artwork on this set 👍 Mandarin Cut is the longer unseen cut 🤩 it's amazing how much they found!! Love all the artwork concerning The Game of Death 👏👏 yeah that's 2 Bruce Lee documentaries on the last disc 👍 the postcards were the original VHS covers which I love 🤩🤩 sit back and enjoy the greatest presence in martial arts history 🤩🤩👍👍

@@millerman9991 I tried to snag a set here in Australia through a few companies , no good , all sold. I checked out randomly the BFI Shop in UK and scored a set ! Paid and on way , just now as I having my Breakfast ! On a side note the Arrow announced Hellraiser set looks good , another series I Have never seen . I also am going to a new 4k showing of Wicker man at Sydney Film Festival in Aug ! Only my 200th time seeing it ! Hahahah …be safe

Yeah I seen the release of hellraiser and I'm not going to lie it looks nothing good as the Blu-ray edition that they brought out a couple of years back but I will pick it up just to see the movies on 4k. Hey Keith. The Boxsets phenomenal isn't mate👍 For me nothing tops Enter The Dragon...truly a masterpiece in my eyes. As you go through the other four films I think you'll appreciate each film gets better an better in budget,actors,production...but at its centre is the man himself.. boat loads of charisma and star power...and incredible real Skill/ability. The meaning of these films and him(at the time and id say still to this day)to the people of Hong Kong and China is one of pride in national identity..I hope through the extras you will find that all fascinating and that through these movies Bruce endears himself to you. I have the blu ray of Enter the Dragon and it’s great.. but I still ordered the 4K. The colours are going to pop. Such a classic.

And you get both versions of the movie. I’m team theatrical all day 😂 Shame Warners couldn’t find us any BTS footage but been informed by someone who worked for Warners until recently that hey don’t have anything. Believe it if you will. I say look again 👀 Weird how Golden Harvest got all these extra scenes and outtakes to include in their cash in movies and Warners have nothing. The Chinese editor for the previous Bruce films says the American guys edited the film in a hotel room in Hong Kong. But the only interview I’ve seen with one of those guys says they got the sound effects from Japan 🤦‍♂️ You think you would remember if you was actually in Hong Kong.

See this is what I'm talking about because I had no idea there was two versions for Enter the Dragon. I was told by a few people that Warner Brothers have given no new special features whatsoever on this release but we are getting a brand new 4K transfer and I honestly can't wait to see it. For Die Hard fans I could see them being very disappointed with the release but for newcomers like myself I'm okay with the deluxe release. It's just a shame it didn't feature in this boxset

@@millerman9991 we had the theatrical version til the 25th anniversary then we was ‘given’ this extended cut. I’m not sure who made this decision. Could have been John Little who was the Bruce Lee estates go to guy at the time. I don’t think anyone ask Bob Clouse the director. The extended version adds the monk scene (John Little doing the Bruce Lee Voice) and a little scene in the mirror room where Bruce thinks back to what the monk told him. These scenes appeared in the asian release. With it being a co production between Concord (Raymond Chow & Bruce Lee’s company) and Warners they split the world wide rights up. Hope this helps. Bob Clouse wrote a great book on the making of the film which is definitely worth a read. Bob Wall wasn’t a fan tho 😂

The tall man, game of death is Kareem, Abdul Jabbar famous basketball player he’s 7‘,2 He was also in airplane he was the copilot🙂 I agree with john I would start you with enter the Dragon if you don’t like that you probably won’t like any of them but I’m sure you will and the others maybe not as polished but I think they all have their charm Have a great one as always👍

I completely understand why John wants to start me with Enter the Dragon. We have spoken so many times about it and I know exactly where he's coming from. Why am I not surprised to hear that he is a basketball player. Now that makes a great amount of sense and I cannot stress how excited I am to check out that fight sequence. I'm hoping it's going to be as good as I imagined it to be. In terms of packaging I have never seen anything quite like it and I stand by what I said in the video it has to be arrow videos crown jewel. So much time and attention has gone into it and I can't tell you how happy I am that I picked it up in the end. Just a epic box-set, so much to go through and a very nice presentation all the way. Very proud that you got this one for your collection Keith. Enter the Dragon is probably the one to start with like John said. Although I've always preferred The Way of The Dragon, maybe because it's the first Bruce Lee movie I saw. In any case the end fight with Chuck Norris is just spectacular and it kinda reminds me of Leones westerns, it's not fast paced, it takes it's time as a grand finale. Great video Keith, thanks for sharing.

Hey Sebastian. Honestly I have never seen a collection quite like this and I have seen a few as you know. I am so happy I took a gamble on this set and hopefully it pays off in the end. I was around 10 years old, had a big boss poster, bought the believe it or not way of the dragon VHS from HMV. I didn't get ID'd but I agree with you Way of the dragon is probably the best personally. I don't know how they could surpass this collection.

I might have said it in my video but surely this has to be the definitive version to own when it comes to Bruce Lee. I honestly can't see anything else coming out that could out do this. Every movie looks fantastic. The special features are beyond ridiculous and the packaging is stunning. It's a must for any collector

I know the Yellow set was more limited so I did wonder if you would have tried for that one...but I personally prefer the artwork of the Red set myself...the new front cover artwork they've done for "Big Boss", "Fist of Fury", "Way of the Dragon" and "Game of Death" is outstanding...and the white covers for the other cuts/discs is very stylish. I'm hoping to revisit this edition sometime in the future and share my thoughts on each one of the movies. I'm actually considering doing it when I do my video on Enter the Dragon when it comes out on 4K in September. I think there's a lot of people out there curious to hear my thoughts on them and to see if this was worth the Gamble. I am set up perfectly I know what I have to do in terms of which movies to watch first and I'm going into this with huge enthusiasm and high expectations and we will see. That's an incredible boxset there Keith, personally I prefer Jackie Chan's more comedy Buster Keaton style of martial arts to Bruce Lee. But Arrow have included everything there. The Police Story trilogy 4K boxset from Eureka is great if you enjoy part 1 and 2 on Blu-Ray. Also don't know if it has come up elsewhere in the comments but I think Mandarin is pronounced Man-da-rin.

Ironically it was also the biggest gamble for me too, because couldn't resist the yellow Arrow store exclusiver 4k edition, but i don't own a 4K player. I used to watch Jackie Chan and Cynthia Rothrock movies when they were shown / available to rent back in the 80s and early 90s, then forgot about the genre for about 15 years, only to get back in to them when Hong Kong Legends teleased the films on DVD. But I'd have to say that sonce 88 Films and Eureka have started releasing the blurays at such a rapid pace, it has become the largest genre in my home media collection. Its just so fun and entertaining, with every movie having a touch of comedy, some martial arts, death defying stunts, romance, tragedy...theyve got it all. Id particularly recommended anything with Jackie Chan or Donnie Yen.

Thankfully the gamble has paid off because I have watched three of the movies and I thought all of them were fantastic and it's open doors for me now when it comes to martial arts movies. this is a Gamble that was well taken , I got the 1 that was the yellow limited release of this Box Set , where I Lived in The United States , i had to buy a Multi region Blue Ray player to play 5 of the 10 Discs , and it was worth .

Great box set. I lived in Hong Kong in the seventies when many of these films were released. He is the original. If you like these films you could buy planned WB relapse of Enter the Dragon and put the discs in this box set.

That is one incredible set Kieth! An incredible set for an incredible and absolute Legend that was the man “Bruce Lee” There is probably not much I can tell you about Bruce that you’ll learn in that massive set, but I can tell you that “Bruce Lee” was and still is I big influence for me. Currently, I am watching a series on HBO MAX called “Warrior” which is a credited Bruce Lee Story derived from original screenplays while in production of “Kung Fu” the 70’s TV series. Bruce Lee is a Loaded subject for sure…WOW! What an impressive set Kieth. Great video…Cheers! UPDATE: ok Kieth, I followed your lead. Last night after watching this video i purchased this set at the Arrow web site in the UK. @@millerman9991 I just received this set, I tried messaging you about it, but had trouble because of a technical issue I’m guessing regarding the artist. He has a fantastic back story, fyi. That aside, this thing was really heavy, like 1.7 kg or almost 4 pounds! Like you said, “jammed packed” I lucked out on zero damage. Honestly hard to believe as it was shipped accross the pond in a loose box. Lol The Box set we both received has generally a lot of buzz online of the Artist I can not name for some reason, making it a highly desirable set, even over the exclusive yellow themed version. Keith, also look for a cheesy B-Movie called Laser Mission. Which was his first role. Although it's an amalgamation of both sci-fi & spy spoofs. Brandon Lee's charisma, along with great martial arts action. Literally carries this movie with what Deadpool would say "maximum effort."

I've got the red box too and it's a fantastic introduction. I'd then go to Jackie chan his are mostly a lighter tone but very entertaining. Armour of god 1+2, dragons forever, the police story's and drunken master 2 are all top recommendations.

Martial Arts isn't a genre I typically enjoy but this collection of films have an interesting history behind them so I figure if I don't enjoy them, I'm fairly certain I will enjoy the behind the scenes material. That red box set is ginormous (I own the yellow Arrow exclusive one which is currently sold out but unfortunately as a Canadian, I have to wait a little longer for my box set to arrive as it is in transit for about two weeks ago) and the most definitive edition to own (even if the extras are outpacing Criterion) if you are a die hard obsessed Bruce Lee fan like me, and I’m hoping that you’ll enjoy the hell out of these movies as a newbie to the old school or contemporary Hong Kong martial arts/action genre, especially for the ones made by John Woo, Johnnie To, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, Donnie Yen, and of course Jackie Chan. That also goes to the Italian spaghetti westerns (I’m pretty sure you own the Sergio Leone ones and some Django films in your collection) and Japanese chambers/swordplay/samurai movies as well.

If you're happy with your DVD collection then that's all the matters in the end. I have Enter the Dragon pre-order myself on 4K but I'm going to watch it on the Blu-ray first because I don't want to wait that long

I think it's actually coming out in August over here as well but I have the Delux release pre-ordered and unfortunately that's not coming out until September. But I'm okay checking out the Blu-ray until September comes around.

Great video keith, its brett from my quote 'walkonalwaysbelieve' [= i changed the name due to me soon starting the channel up but very shy, I ADORE bruce lee, the greatest martial artist of all time, bruce lee is the reason i used to be a martial artist [= i have the yellow set, but im also going to get this red set, i preordered the yellow set the day they went on preorder on arrow, this is a perfect set for bruce lees 50th year passing & for bruce lee fans, but i will put the 4k enter the dragon disc in the yellow set also ive put a enter the dragon poster, game of death poster, fist of fury poster & 1 enter the dragon artcard in the set for it to be 100% complete. Arrows packaging is awful cause the dont bubble wrap items, but a lovely set, these are the best 2 sets arrow will ever do. Bruce lee also did a ton of films as a kid he was also a baby in the moving picture 'golden gate girl' Theres a few things im knowledgeable on which are 'films' simular to you, 'horror' 'martial arts' 'opera' & 'BRUCE LEE' these are my 5 main topics that im a NERD on, haha, great video keith, i hope you enjoy them i really really do. I won’t be getting that as I’ve got the Arrow set which is really great and it includes the Blu Ray edition of ETD which I now own twice anyway. When Warner Brothers decide to dig out the behind the scenes/outtakes and footage I will buy the film again but until then…. Anyway, I hope you enjoy all the Bruce Lee movies. 👍

I know a lot of people weren't too happy with the 50th anniversary release of Enter the Dragon from Warner Brothers. I know a lot of people wanted to see a lot of brand new special features but unfortunately it's the same old stuff we got before. Hopefully the transfer will look amazing on it and yes it is the 50th I picked up. It does look beautiful and it will go well with the arrow release

Great boxset on 4K release my eyes on this Bruce Lee Boxset was ages ago to release, but Zavvi went out of stock, Amazon price gone more high, just waiting price goes down for Bruce Lee 4K Boxset, Plus they should not have put Blu ray Enter The Dragon movie inside the 4K Boxset, which gonna release on 4K soon separately, but i still have USA Blu Ray version Bruce Lee Legacy Collection which still over price then 4k Boxset, on ebay, it's very rare now legacy collection.

Well as it's turned out its actually more cost effective to buy the full box set which you get a hardcover book Instead of the little paper booklets in the individuals releases which are still very expensive so this set is actually better value

Yeah unfortunately Enter the Dragon was the only Blu-ray. I can imagine how pissed off arrow Video were but I understand why Warner Brothers didn't give it to them.

Where did you order it from? Arrow directly or Amazon? I’m on the fence due to the risk of it getting damaged during shipping. I could get it from a site here in Sweden but it’s a lot more expensive. Though I then would know it would arrive mint (that site always have great packaging and good cs). Set looks incredible for sure. I’m like you, haven’t seen a single one of the movies so would be a huge gamble for me as well. Cheers!

I forgot to mention it in the video but I got it from Amazon UK and I have to admit the packaging wasn't too bad. I've seen a hell of a lot worse from Amazon but I can't guarantee you will get the same packaging. I've heard horror stories when it comes to this release and all the damaged editions so if I was to give my honest opinion I would pay the extra money just so you can have that piece of mind. But I really do hope whatever route you go down it comes to you safe and sound and hopefully you will enjoy the movies. It's a big Gamble but it is a beautiful edition

Right then, My Abbot 📿 .. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this to you before.. but I actually practise WING CHUN - the foundational martial art that Bruce learned from IP MAN.. and I also have an ADVANCED level in JEET KUN DO concepts.. JEET KUN DO is the method of fighting and philosophy Bruce created. - I’ve been practicing now for 12 years give or take😅 plus I’ve been a fan since the age of 7! I’m 41 now! 😱🤯!! 🤣🤣 THE BIG BOSS is my second favourite film.. ENTER’ being the first! Yup you were right - Bruce does fight Chuck in The way of the Dragon.. which was written and directed by Bruce himself.. it’s not the best film.. you have to look past the dated Chinese sense of humour or comedy ( as you often do with a lot of Kung fu movies of the time.. it’s a staple tho.. BUT the significance of the Chuck Fight.. echos in eternity! As does the end of GAME OF DEATH! Keith, you couldn’t have got a better way in to getting to know the greatest martial arts action hero than this set!! 🤣 mine is arriving Sunday by the way! Obviously 🤣🤣 I truly hope you get a taste for this genre.. jus give it time.. Kung Fu.. actually means “skill acquired over time” 😉📿‼️

I know exactly what I am getting into with this and I'm excited and even though I did say in the video that I was somewhat concerned on whether or not I will enjoy the movies it's all gone away because this collection is a must own even if you're a fan or not. @millerman9991 I am a huge Bruce Lee fan. I think you will not regret. I think best to take them for what they are & don't over expect. They are mostly 70s films after all. Enter is considered the best. It's refreshing to go back to these and watch fight scenes that are realistic in style. Love to know what you think one watched.

A close friend of mine has set out a path to which way to watch these movies and he told me to start with Enter the Dragon. After that I have to check out the big boss and then Way of the Dragon. I know for a fact they are going to be a spectacle to look at and I am very excited but I'm also somewhat cautious. I will know soon enough

WB is releasing a 50th anniversary Enter the Dragon in 4k in August. That's why there's not a 4k version in this set. Plus, they released a 40th anniversary edition in 2013 that had art cards included in that edition. So, that's probably why there aren't any cards in the Arrow release

But, if you don't have the 40th anniversary edition, then definitely get the 50th. I'm gonna just order the 4k edition of Enter the Dragon & will replace the disc in the Arrow set with it

I know that a lot of Die Hard fans are not particularly happy with the effort that Warner Brothers done with that release. Apparently you get no new special features and as you mentioned some of the items in that edition came with the 40th. Thankfully I am a newbie so I'm ecstatic with how it all looks

My god I just checked that edition out and wow now that is a release and as you said easily the best version you can own for Enter the Dragon. I do remember seeing editions like that back in the day I'm almost sure there were called the gold Editions if I remember correctly and they brought out a couple of movies. I think the likes of the Matrix and The Perfect Storm got the same treatment. Now I could be completely wrong but they do look familiar
