Quentin Tarantino’s new film Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood has been criticised by Bruce Lee's daughter, Sharon, for the portrayal of her father in the film. The film director insists that Bruce Lee 'was kind of an arrogant guy' but Sharon hits back at the claims by saying her father's dedication to his work made people perceive him as such.

He was great. I was laughing so hard in the theater. I love Bruce Lee...I have all of his movies. But if it is now considered WRONG to dare make fun of somebody...if people need to go on the news and say, "Do not make fun of my public figure father," then society has finally and completely run out of any sense of humor.

@@013_sachin I watched the interview with Quentin. He doesn't TRASH Bruce. He DOES point out that Bruce did have a huge ego and could be silly sometimes in his own interviews. Quentin is a HUGE Bruce Lee fan. The portrayal of Bruce in the movie does legitimately point out that there were some ways Bruce could act that could be parodied. (Bruce Lee is the greatest action star in history...and maybe the greatest martial artist, or certainly among the greatest...NOBODY is questioning that.)

Quentin Tarantino is a boor and a provocateur, only in his twisted mind can he make a master of martial arts like Bruce Lee end up defeated and reculed. It is very upsetting to know what he did in his disastrous movie with Bruce. Let's be honest! Who liked "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood"? Feb 89 Blackbelt "Secrets of Shoalin Temple" column by Steven Barnes (its online) details Lees loss to Lebell in a real altercation and not just some on set hijinks. For someone to put this story in print in a national publication means something. The story was also verified by Ed Parker in another article. I read both at the time. I dont recall anyone in the Lee family or JKD community close to Lee flatly denying this story. John Little, missing a golden opportunity to call it false in his book on Lee's supposed history of fights ignores this controversy completely. Why? Maybe he cant deny it ever happened in print as much as he claims in breezy conversations on fanboy podcasts. Lets see Shannon Lee say that a real altercation with Lee and Lebell never took place. She hasnt yet. Has Dan Inosanto ever gone on record saying Lee was overpowered in a real altercation with Lebell ? He never has seemed to talk about it at all. The silence by those close to Lee on this is telling. The only one who said something about it was Parker and he would know. Unlike 99% if Lee fanboys, he actually KNEW him. Lets also have John Little interview Steven Barnes and ask him who his sources were back in 1989 who gave him the confidence to write what he wrote. I challenge Goldenbell training to contact Barnes and ask him who his sources were. Barnes is an award winning african american writer and not some lightweight. I also challenge Little, and the Lee estate to say in print that Lebell did not have an heated altercation which concluded with Lebell overpowering Bruce Lee. Gushing fanboy commentary reciting the elements is not journalism.

Actually the guy was gene lebell a very well versed judo fighter, fought old day MMA and an absolute monster of a man. And it did happen. Gene picked up lee on his shoulder and ran around the car park with him and Bruce could do nothing. After that fight lee trained with gene to learn some judo. Facts. If your feelings are hurt good. Facts are facts
