True Heroes
Superheroes exist. They live among us. They put on their capes everyday. In offices, in labs, on the sports track, in garages. Creating, designing, educating, entertaining, informing - making a true difference. To a true hero, every detail matters, every second is important, every inch counts. They lead by example driven by their own targets. They are the ones that will not conform, willing to face challenges and to set out on journeys to uncertain endings. Yet, they do not know how to give up. And once they succeed - because like any true hero they always succeed - change is created.
TEDxLimassol 2015 promises to be daring and provocative by bringing on the stage true heroes that will share their ideas and inspire us to wear our own capes.
Get ready to fly.
TEDxLimassol 03/10/2015 - True Heroes

Shannon’s efforts to keep her father’s legacy of self-cultivation, personal liberation and a relentless pursuit of excellence alive stems from a deep belief in the message and the inspiration that is her father, Bruce Lee. #BRUCELEE

There were steroids back then and I might be wrong but I don't think they were illegal because they weren't fully understood. Bruce Lee was a special person, and was taken too early. But with his ever-increasingly demanding lifestyle, his obsession with physical training etc. there are grounds to suppose that he could have used steroids. I don't see why not, especially for the sake of his performance/appearance on screen.

"I feel I have had this great creative and spiritual force within me that is greater than faith, greater than ambition, greater than confidence, greater than determination, greater than vision. It is all these combined. My brain becomes magnetized with this dominating force, which I hold in my hand. Whether it is the God-head or not, I feel this great force, this untapped power, this dynamic something within me. This feeling defies description, and no experience with this feeling may be compared. It is something like a strong emotion mixed with faith, but a lot stronger." - Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee was one with nature and one with his heart. To have that energy inside his soul is something amazing that many of us acquire. Shannon was able to live her fathers teachings which led her to spread the knowledge to the world. No rewards, no competition, no judgement. To be set free from these restraints leads the mind to a universe that you can call your own. To understand the true essence of this power. Leads to transitions which enables new goals, dreams, inventions, theories, discoveries, innovations, etc. This modification caused the mind to evolve and reach climaxes that can change a simple life to a life worth living.

Without judgment you cannot make progress. To judge is to evaluate through that evaluation you can make the proper adjustments to keep evolving. The key is to excel in advance. Without disrupting disturbing mother Earth and all her species and its inhabitants. The end result of judgment is to be able to burn freeze freely or at will. Through existence without disrupting the soul and spirit in a negative way. However it will be just fine for most people to just live a intelligent healthy happy productive life. By getting to know themselves. Martial arts is the fastest and most efficient way to get to know yourself to be able to express physical freedom. To have the body awareness that validates being physically fit mentally sound and spiritually balanced to coincide with mother Earth in a divine way. If I didn't take the most intense judgment that could be possibly given. I would just use physical intimidation to make my way through life and existence. Judgment is not a cruel punishment. It is a way to mature gracefully it will help one lovingly live up to the wonderful responsibility of femininity or masculinity.
@jr7441
@jr7441 7 жыл бұрын
Very well stated and I could not agree with you more. Judgment has a inner and outer field. You touched on the inner realm which enables us to shape our destinies for the better good. In the outer realm it becomes a parasite. It enables oneself to judge others and claim your way is just. To become judge and jury in the court of life. Is a mistake that many do. This prevents further growth as their minds assume they are right. To liberate ones soul from this pollution. Is exactly what makes judgment a key tool to evolve the mind to another stage. Which is what you explained. Great insight bro.

J Romero Thanks for taking the time to read what I wrote. And I am more appreciated that you can comprehend. The message I was trying to relay. For Reading and writing are my most neglected form of communication. To simplify. The value and significance that martial arts can add in a person's life. I like to say martial arts is the fastest and most efficient way for one to become physically fit mentally sound and spiritually balanced. The bottom line is the potential martial arts has to improve the quality of life is absolutely dominant. It has helped me. More than any other form of teaching. One reason is extremely fun. Are you a student of martial arts. The goal for me is to have martial arts implemented into every school system. I would like to see it. Celebrated in religious gatherings. I would like for medical to except martial arts as a form of treatment necessity for the best cure is prevention. Martial arts will indeed help prevent the majority of if not all the physical and mental. Problems that most of today's people face.

DERRICK WILSON Just putting it out there, you're being kind of a buzzkill, lol. This is an inspiring video, no need to take away the inspiration :) I always expect comments like this when I comment on Bruce Lee related videos. Not sure if you're trolling or actually believe what you say, but while I would agree that David Carradine was an actor, I respectfully disagree about your thoughts on Bruce Lee. Martial arts was his passion, and he was always a martial artist first, an actor second. Again, I don't know if you're just the common troll I typically encounter on Bruce Lee videos or actually believe what you just said, but no need to bring down the inspiration from this wonderful TED talk :)
@JasonRainwater
@JasonRainwater 8 жыл бұрын
DERRICK WILSON Bruce Lee was a martial artist in life, and actor by profession. He obviously trained hard, turned his studies into a science, articulated himself well, and could back up what he said. He was a living example of what he spoke. This can be felt in his films. Yes, he was a film actor, but what made him stand out was that his martial arts came first. He would've trained even if he were not involved in film. This is why his performances had a certain authenticity to them that other action film stars lack. He wasn't just following instructions created by some choreographer, he was expressing his own fighting principles on screen through his own honest expression. In that sense, he was a true artist of film, rather than an actor following a director or choreographer. He knew what he wanted to convey onscreen, accepted no less. He was more authentic than any other actor I can think of, so I have to respectfully disagree with your statements. Also, this video's focus is about exploring one's own potential, which is what Bruce Lee did. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this message, and it's one all of us should follow, regardless of the person being used as an example here. In this case, that person being Bruce Lee. Someone who had goals, and accomplished them through his own determination and will. No matter what your personal opinion or perception of the man, you can't deny the hard work and effort he put in to achieve the aspirations he had set for himself. That's why he's a hero to so many. He inspires them to do the same through their own honest self expression.

+Jason Rainwater BRUCE LEE COMES FROM A FAMILY OF ACTORS. HE STUDIED THE PHILOSOPY OF MARTIAL ARTS AND USED MOVIES TO PROVE THEM. HE WAS ASIAN BUT BORN IN USA AND SO WAS SCHOOLED THERE. HE WAS A MASTER OF PHILOSOPY OF MARTIAL ARTS.....HOLLYWOOD CREATED HIM.....HE SOLD IT...AND YES HE WAS MORE AUTHENTIC THEN OTHER ACTORS....SELL YOURSELF....ALL YOU BELIEVE IS HIS QUOTES FROM PHILOSOPY OF MARTIAL ARTS, BE LIKE WATER....HIS ACCENT IS FAKE, SPEAKS PERFECT ENGLISH, HAS A WHITE WIFE, NOT EVEN BORN IN ASIA, AND FAMILY HAS BACKGROUND IN "ACTING".... A FAKE HERO LIKE CHUCK NORRIS....JCVD....THEY ALL SELL IT. JACKIE CHAN ALL SELL IT....
@JasonRainwater
@JasonRainwater 8 жыл бұрын
DERRICK WILSON So let me see if I understand your point... Your opinion on Bruce Lee and all other people who choose acting as a profession are automatically fake? Especially if they have members of their family who are also in the same profession? If that is your point, Mr. Wilson, you have to understand that, as an actor, your profession is performing for others. Of course you want to promote yourself if that's the case. Does it mean you're fake? No. You can promote yourself through honest self expression just as well as you can through self image promotion. Sure, there are actors out there who I feel aren't being real. Never got that impression from Bruce Lee. As far as I can see, he was as real as they come. Does that mean his life was perfect? No. Who's life is perfect, though? He was obviously a man of amazing talent and accomplishment who worked hard at what he did and inspired people around the world. How can anyone hate on that? :)

Shannon I can see a lot of your father in you. You got his facial gesture to his philosophy spot on. I had the hairs stand on the back of my neck just hearing you. Your Father wasn't just a hero, he was extraordinary men who was able to captivate everyone around him with his teachings. He was an inspirational. I still remember growing up as a kid playing all of his vhs movies trying to be like him. Thank you Shannon this made my dad...

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash

I fully appreciate this wonderful talk. First off, I would like to say I am a fan of Bruce Lee. I think Shannon Lee is not only Beautiful, but a very important person in sharing the legacy of her father! Thank you so much Shannon. I have had some of these same thoughts but in different words of course. More and more I can see the way I was brought up I realize that my Mother was ahead of her time as well. I've written about this in my book, "My Life & Escape" How to Escape the Captivity and Suffering of the VA Prison of Drugs.
