Bruce McLaren's Austin 7

I have been for a drive in this car! I was in Hamilton, New Zealand in 1991 talking to a guy who knew a guy who had just got it back on the road before shipping it out to the UK. He took me for a (very fast) drive around the Hamilton suburb streets. Sitting in the car your elbow hangs out the door and it's only inches from the rear wheel, and that flexes a surprising amount! One of my happy days :)

I love the comment about gear change points when there is a rev counter. Those two marks just happen to co-incide with the NZ speed limits for town and country! Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

I suggest you contact McLaren's primary sponsor (Vodophone) and ask them. To not run a sponsor's livery in just one race could cost well over $1 million.
