Check out our Previous Episode (11) with Dr. Perry:
• Bruce Perry, M.D., Ph....
In our first episode of 2023, we’re bringing you Dr. Bruce Perry, the world’s leading expert on childhood trauma & brain development. You might be familiar with his work because he last joined us on the Medspiration podcast in episode 11 (link above). Since we last spoke, Bruce has published a New York Times best selling book with Oprah Winfrey called: ‘What Happen to You?’
Bruce & Oprah's book just sold over 1 million copies & I could not think of a better way to wish each of our subscribers a happy 2023 than to share this carefully crafted conversation! The main theme of this episode is 'self-regulation', my intention in this interview was to lay out a simple neuro-scientifically backed, step by step process on how anyone can transform Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) into Post Traumatic Wisdom.

Thank you Nav for bringing Dr. Bruce Perry MD PHD to your show so he could share his experience and wisdom with the American public. I truly wish every person in America would watch this ASAP. Such a beautiful talk! Thank you Dr Bruce Perry for caring about people who suffer with sxs. of complex PTSD and thank you for destigmatizing this topic and helping those who struggle with severe and persistent mental health challenges! The topic of Adverse Childhood Experiences and the lack of understanding of its effects on early childhood development is a massive public health issue at this time. Immediate attention by States and the Federal government is necessary is America to mitigate the effects of early toxic stressors on the developing brains of children to prevent poor outcomes in adulthood leading to preventable physical and mental health diagnoses that impact society in a catastrophic and costly way.♥️🙏

This is accurate and has been my experience. Conceived during a scandal, first memory at age 3 is being sexually abused by someone who was supposed to be a protector-and continued for 12 years. Blah blah blah. I’ve never been arrested, am not an abuser of alcohol (nor do I use drugs recreationally), and I’ve raised pretty healthy children into adults, have post graduate education etc. But I’ve been married 3 times (first for 18 years, second for what seemed like 5 minutes, and third for 16.5 years). So I have not been successful in life partnering. I continue with therapy as needed (most recently once a week for 2 years) when I escaped narcissistic abuse that turned physical in 2021. Sheesh. I’ve been very intentional in living authentically my entire adulthood-and I’m still connecting the dots and releasing what I no longer need. Yes, I have CPTSD.

Super cool and inspiring indeed. When ppl like Bruce veer off into SJW territory though they always ignore the economics that are inextricably linked to “Equity”? Is he so sure about the (racist) systems that exist? Maybe some of the reasons for why things developed the way they have us because taxpayers have a right to say how their money is used? Maybe it’s been more about money than skin colour? I’m not sure how to level the playing field (or if black ppl in the US are as disadvantaged as politicians indicate) so that everyone has equal access to healthcare but Money doesn’t grow on trees. The demdumbs don’t seem to factor everything into their plans. I agree though, we need to support and celebrate young families so that Mom can stay home. God speed.

They're doing systems thinking there: seeing how the various parts interact to form what we know... If we have systems that are damaged that could contribute to our treatment of people, we may lose empathy in that area so it's important to address them. Regarding not factoring economics into this, perhaps they aren't as informed in that area and it would be wiser to steer clear of the topic so that there's less of a risk for misinformation... Or they simply didn't consider that at the moment because systems can be super complicated. Politics is already a touchy. complicated subject and economics can fall under that umbrella as well.
