@65if2007 Жыл бұрын
Whether or not it was a motivating factor for Nash to leave, it was still self-centered on Bret's part not to take the finish. That observation comes with a caveat: is what Nash said about that really accurate? Did Bret Hart really refuse to take his finish? He actually took a number of power bombs from Diesel at the championship match of SS 1995 before "surprising" him with the small package finish. The "message" that you get from that match is that Nash/Diesel could have easily pinned Hart at that point if he hadn't been too lackadaisical to finish him off. So, Hart did sell the power bomb at that time and to that extent.

I heard Kevin comment on this story on his podcast recently and I think the context he added made the story make a little more sense. Based on how he spoke of it the jackknife thing wasn’t some sole factor in terms of had that gone differently he would’ve stayed. He made it seem more so that either way he was heavily leaning to going to WCW, as the offer was so incredible, but that there was a lot about WWF he didn’t want to leave behind and that he was almost trying to find reasons to stay put. But the Bret thing was the point where he finally gave up trying to talk himself out of leaving and made a final commitment. Whether that’s true or not I guess we can never truly know but from that side of thought it at least can make a small bit of sense. Similar to Bret when he didn’t go to WCW right away and was still basically trying to stick around despite the much better offer because he was so hesitant about how he’d get used in WCW and leaving behind all the good he’d done in WWF. Bret had a similar line of thinking in that he tried to stick around with WWF on the deal he had but asked Vince what his future was and when he didn’t like what he heard finally decided he’d leave. May have been similar with Nash that everything said he should leave but this finally took away any more excuses he could make to himself not to just go do it. That being said I don’t think this truly changed things - the offer was just too good to say no I imagine. But I do think it’s possible that it could’ve been the point that he finally gave up trying to talk himself out of leaving albeit with his mind already 98% made up anyways.
@richardtheconquerer Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I believe Nash in this case for the one simple reason he brought up in his explanation: he had already worked for WCW before and they didn't exactly treat him well giving him some pretty stupid gimmicks. I like Nash but your telling me he never played politics to get his way. Im sure he has so this story makes me sick

@Bruce Wayne's Boss only to children like yourself. Bret went out his way to make guys like Nash look credible. Look at his work in 1995 alone facing mostly jobbers. Most people miss the opportunity at that time with goldust, because they were so homophobic! But I guess it was all right in hindsight, not for them being scared of how they would be perceived, which is laughable when you think about it because they would play Adrian Street had done that years before. But more so because a huge spotlight on fear of someone being gay may have had adverse reaction to the fans of WWF.

Why would Bret whine about taking a Jacknife TO ADD TO THE FINALITY OF THE STEEL CAGE MATCH only for Undertaker to rise from hell; bust through the canvas and suck Diesel into the depths of hell. Therefore Bret seizes the moment to take the victory. Hart vs HBK Diesel vs Taker Goldust vs Piper U. WARRIOR vs HHH

Because Bret was mad to look weak his entire title run. His match with Diesel at Survivor Series ended with him being beaten to a pulp and getting a lucky inside cradle for the win. That's not a dominating finish. Then he got his ass whooped pillar to post by Bulldog at IYH5, to the point they were suggesting to stop the match. Then at the Rumble, he got Tombstoned by Taker and didn't kick out, the finish was Diesel pulling the ref out of the ring. The cage match was the 4th ppv in a row where Bret looked weak, yet he's the champ that's supposed to pass the torch to Shawn in the mainevent of WM. That's why

@@lyricsanonymous9036 I wouldn't call "IT" a lucky small package win at 'Series 95. Bret took a breather "playing possum" and when Diesel let up for a split second BRET WENT FOR "IT" and got "the better" of BIG "D" Bret "bettered" Diesel. Bret began another title run ultimately preparing for HBK as Diesel entered another heel run (which he needed but ultimately wouldn't see fully flourish)

@@dangxdc8348 I'm aware of the psychology of the finish, the cagy veteran out wrestling the limited powerhouse...but it was a lucky win. It wasn't a dominant victory. Nash immediately sat up and was pissed, while Bret was exhausted. Then Nash jacknifed him and left him laying. I love that match, and it's one of my favorite finishes...but it is what is, and part of why Bret felt the way he did. 4ppvs in a row, he escaped by the skin of his teeth

I just don't get why Bret whines about looking "weak" in the IYH steel cage match before Mania 12. Diesel jacknifes Bret Diesel SEEMINGLY has the victory Undertaker bursts out from the depths of hell to suck Diesel down (setting up Mania 12) Bret captures the win That sets up Bret vs Shawn (Bret goes the hour; HBK gets the overtime victory) Undertaker beats Diesel Warrior debuts against HHH Roddy Piper beats Goldust out of his lingerie

According to Nash it was the fact that Vince let Bret get what he wanted despite Nash & Taker making a good point as to why Nash’s point was right is what the final straw was
@quikdeath1003 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t the right move though. If the headline at wrestlemania is Bret vs Shawn, it’s not good to have Bret look like he was knocked out before Taker interfered. Nash’s complaint is about him only looking out for himself. This is what he’s basically saying: “I’d get the exact finish I want because Vince didn’t want to weaken his WM main event so I left.” It’s dumb and selfish. And it looks even worse when the other person involved was Taker given that he would spend the rest of his career in WWE and became a legend.
@JDotWill3 жыл бұрын
@@quikdeath100 I don’t think it was a selfish thing because Taker even called Bret out for it. Nash thought if he looked like he had Bret beat before Taker interfered it adds juice to their deal. It intensifies their personal conflict because if I’m not mistaken Diesel had cost Taker the belt the month previous.
