35 years ago this album came out. The year I got my driver's license . The year of my first car. The year of my first love. The year of my first Bruce concert. Needless to say Bruce is the only one still in my life. Lol. Every now and then I'll throw this CD in the player while washing the car in the driveway. Open a cold beer and just listen as the years melt away.

I was eight years old when my father bought the album 'Born in the USA' back in '84. It has this song on it. I remember it resonated deeply with me, i.e. with my ability to feel, for I didn't speak English back then. (I'm from The Netherlands). When I got older I learnt the language, and so I learnt the lyrics of this and many other Springsteen songs. I could now more and more understand what he was singing. And also through life experience of my own. But the truth is, I could grasp the meaning of many of his songs as a child. For the match is perfect. Springsteen has a gift for giving an emotional charge to music, that captures very well the essence of what he sings about.

Or at the very least a certain understanding/recognition between the two of them . I just saw the band live 3 days ago and this song was the 3rd one of the first encore . I was watching Bruce and Stevie for some sign but alas , it was not to be . What a fantastic concert though ! I’ve been a fan since they broke out on the scene 49 years ago and this was the first time I got to see them live ! Something I’ve always wanted to do and now I have ! ! ! Keep on kicking it in the ass Bruce ! ( and the E Street Band ) . 3 hours and 5 minutes long of nonstop jammin’ ! 29 songs , most of my favorites and one with my name in the first line ! Thanks to my daughter I got to see it !

My wife has given me so many wonderful gifts, but the only one better than her love was tickets to this concert. My first Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert. It only took 30 years to get there an a whole lotta love. Now I'm the one getting the tickets and taking her to Hyde Park next July for the experience of a lifetime. Besides falling in love and being loved, the next best thing is a Bruce Springsteen concert.

It speaks to those in our past, never forgotten, and although no longer seen, there are those times when we remember the connection, even with all the miles in between. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song. First time I heard it I was driving on highway 5 coming home to San Francisco from Los Angeles. Stopped and called my sister (on the payphone, no cells yet) to ask if she knew the song. I wanted to try to see them in Nov. of ‘23 but Bruce became ill and had to cancel those shows , so I didn’t try to get tickets . By sheer coincidence , my daughter and her husband got 2 sets , only needed one , and I bought the other tickets from them . He is supposed to come back in Aug. ‘24 and I’m waiting anxiously ! I’ve seen most of the truly great rock and roll bands that I wanted to but never got to see Bruce . I hope we both make it till then ! It’ll be wild , the wildest thing I’ve ever seen !
