In the old days Bruce was famous for spending more time on stage doing sound checks before the concert than other bands spent performing and doing sound checks combined. Then he would perform for three hours or more. I first saw him in 1980 at a cost of $7.50 ($27 in 2022 with inflation). Excellent investment.

It was originally recorded as part of Born in the USA but never made it onto the album. The studio out-take was released on the 2003 compilation album "The Essential Bruce Springsteen". There is a 2015 re-release of that album but the songs on it are different. Only the original 2003 release contains the 3rd disc (called the bonus disc) which has this song along with many other hidden gems. It's a shame they don't include the bonus disc with the 2015 version, I had to find a 2nd hand copy of the 2003 one. P.S. You can find the studio out-take on KZbin if you search: "None But the Brave (Studio Outtake - 1983)". It's on his official channel.
