I was terrible too and my "emancipation" was Steve Splain ( sp ) in Garwood who threw fast balls and I was afraid of fast balls but this time I hit it right over his head for a base hit. Does everyone have a similar story?

Mine were a kid named Jerry Thorn who had serious heat, and a guy called Sully, with a knee buckling curve. One year I played first base and Sully handled SS when he wasn’t pitching. He threw me curves during infield. The next year on opposing teams, he was even better. I had zero chance to hit him. A year later in February, The Beatles were on Ed Sullivan, and a Hagstrom became my new interest. Me, Springsteen Dinizio and a million other guys.
