This is what people mean when they say a Springsteen concert is a religious experience.

It is impossible not to become obsessed with Bruce and the E street band after seeing them live. They didn’t just play songs you loved; they made unforgettable memories. He was still performing for 3 hours - or close to - in his tour this year. One of the best performers of all time! Check out performances from the Barcelona concert- Badlands, She’s the One, Spirit in the Night, Promised Land, Prove it All Night, Darkness on the Edge of Town, Ramrod - to name a few. And The Rising, his song about 9/11 is so powerful and heartfelt.

@PancakeMarshmallowDude: At every performance, every night, the E Street Band always gives 150%. And Bruce himself goes far beyond that. In his heydey (1970s/80s) he gave 4-hour shows that never let up from beginning to end. He is simply the greatest live performer who ever lived.

Yeah, he's slowed down in his old age, only putting on 3 to 3½ hour shows

Clarence Clemmons (AKA The Big Man on sax) was his closest friend and it almost wrecked Bruce when he died. Clarence is a legend and will always be remembered.

there a lot of assumptions going on there , according to Bruce , Steve is his best friend . and while clarence was important to him and their connection hard to deny , Bruce also said they live very different private lives . Also I would imagine the death of this person did deeply upset him he spoke to it in his Broadway show , but Bruce has more important people in his live i.e his wife and kids

One of his best performances for sure. At a typical show you get 3 or 4 maybe 5 moments like this. Definitely get your money's worth. BTW the rest of the show between those moments is fantastic too.

The band had been playing that song with many subtle changes for 20 years at that point. They are well rehearsed, but they also know not to take their eyes off of Bruce for any musical cues via spontaneous hand signals, body language etc.. All pros. Same goes for his voice. He had been doing epic shows since even before he got a record deal. He's conditioned. That's not to say he doesn't have his own self-care rituals. Tea with honey/lemon. Olive oil etc.. whatever it takes.

Welcome to The Church of Bruuuuuce! I’ve been loving watching you discover Mr. Bruce Springsteen! This is definitely like a spiritual revival. He has a way of touching your soul and making you laugh at the same time. Your reactions are so spot on. Keep making them, please. His softer side: “Meeting Across the River”; “Stolen Car”; “If I Should Fall Behind” (Live version); “For You” (Live 1975 Hammersmith). The entire Hammersmith concert is legendary- - “Lost in the Flood” is epic. L “NYC Serenade” Live from Rome. The list goes on. Enjoy. Thank you for your insights. Keep up the great work!

My first Springsteen concert was in 1976 at the Cleveland Agora. Going to see him is not an event, its a total experience. No one plays 3 hour concerts like him. Cleveland actually broke his band onto the music scene besides Asbury park

10th Avenue Freeze Out isn’t about Manhattan, it’s about where his original keyboardist lived at a NJ shore town named Belmar. The cross street there is E Street. I met Bruce at the shore at a band practice in 1978 and again in 1984. Good guy. His 1975 live shows were the best in my opinion. A young and hungry band. A real rock and roll show were if he didn’t make it on his third album, Columbia was going to drop him. He was literally singing for his life.

I have been to many many concerts esp. back in the 80's and never saw such fanatical fans! Three quarters through the show the lights came on.. not ONE person was walking around the concourse...everyone was dancing and singing...one girl was there by herself and sang every word to every song. Only other artist that came close to this level of loyalty was Bob Seger.

In the beginning of all that he was wringing the sweat out of his shirt! I saw him in concert in the 90s and he was unbelievably athletic and energetic. Saw him do the piano thing and jump down continuing on like nothing. Saw him lean over backwards almost to the floor while still playing the guitar. The man is not human lol! Seriously amazing performer - almost 4 hours he played and sang for us. Phenomenal talent. I've heard accounts of Bruce passing out right on the floor backstage after performances and the others stepping over him as he wears himself out that much. Did he lose his voice after this? I can't say, but I saw him give a similar performance and know he played the next day, so yeah, not human. Yes, the audience sings that loudly at his concerts. We were in a huge stadium when I went and could be heard well just like you can hear them here. Hands down, second best concert I've ever gone to (first was U2 and U2 is about to knock Bruce to third best in December lol) in my life, and I've gone to loads of them! The compilation video of Born to Run is a must, as is Badlands any live version. Bruce and the E Street Band from New Jersey. One of the original members was from Belmar and E Street is where they often rehearsed. Little Steven van Zandt and Big Man Clarence Clemons, Nils Lofgren, probably others have been with him from the beginning. a little anecdote I probably told you before, but I saw the Big Man walking across the street in Santa Cruz one day. It was definitely him. No one is that tall/big and looks like him. Well, maybe there are some, but it was him. My friends and I were awestruck. Not sure if anyone has told you this about the woman on stage - Patti Scialfa - but she tried out for the band way way back when and was rejected. She went on about her life and Bruce did too, and even got married in between. She came back very many years later and tried out again, and made it and ended up married to him. So, he didn't put his wife in the band, rather his bandmate became his wife. Thank you for reviewing this and Bruce. Like U2, I'll take all the Bruce you want to react to.

This is an epic performance, for sure! Bruce generally plays 3 hour concerts and has that same level of hyped up energy throughout! Even though part of this song is included in the mix, Springsteen and the E Street Band's performance at the Super Bowl is awesome.

He only does three hour concerts now? I can forgive him as he's in his 60s I think. lol! When I saw him in the 90s it was nearly 4 hours and it was this energetic the entire time!

I saw Bruce in 1984...he had 3 sold out shows and filmed Dancing In The Dark there. No warm up band...Bruce played 5 hours the first night and 4 1/2 hours the second night...don't know how long the third night was but I'm sure it was similar!

This was 80-90 minutes into the show. Every BS&ESB concert I've been to, the fans are dripping sweat by now. And the hour-long, higher-energy encore hasn't even started. A friend: "How long IS this show?!" Me: "He usually plays until everyone in the crowd is dead."

Love to see you react to his Springsteen on Broardway show and the piece where he's talking about Clarence and/or his father. But the Clarence bit (this same song 10th Avenue) is just soooooooo touching as Clarence had died by then. And by the way.... if you are looking for more Bruce stuff..... I'd suggest him doing covers...... Purple Rain by Prince; Royals by Lorde; You Never Can Tell by Chuck Berry and Staying Alive by the Bee Gee's. What? Yes. You that right. Those covers are PHENOMENAL and so different. Don't thank me. OK, yes, please thank me. ;)))

Aww heck I'm watching him do an epic Twist and Shout in Argentina you really should check but this wrecks your 4 at a time format. Can I find 3 more? Oh yes, London Calling (The Clash) is amazing at Hyde Park. Of course Edwin Starr's War. And then Trapped (Jimmy Cliff) in Paris or Vigilante Man (Woody Guthrie). I hope you get to some of this.... :))
