Obviously an incredibly powerful and beautiful song. I love the way some of the lyrics have a kind of double meaning. For example "love and duty called you some place higher, somewhere up the stairs into the fire". Bruce is talking about a firefighter being called into duty going some place literally higher, up the stairs of the towers, but also it could be referring to a sort of "higher calling" that comes along with a job like that. I think one of the things that is great about this song is that it memorializes the sacrifices that were made on that day by the first responders and others who were trying to save peoples lives on that day. I can imagine that for people who weren't born yet or too young to remember 9/11 it communicates the magnitude of that sacrifice. The imagery in both this song and "The Rising" is so powerful.

Written for the firefighters who sacrifised their life and went "upstairs, into the fire" during 9/11 attacks while other people were coming down the stairs.

Yep, they call him Bruce, has earned a place as GOAT, he just delivers epic performances. I was one of many who watch the 2nd plane hit on live tv, was thinking when I watched the plane hit, somebody is gonna pay bigtime for this, then they got us with the Bali bombing. Geez they pissed us right off as well.

That is Springsteen's wife Patti at the beginning. She is a great singer herself.
