Snuck out of homeroom in high school to drive across the street to buy The River on he first day it came out. grabbed the 8 track ripped off the plastic and slammed it into the player. Ties The Bind sounded soo good that amazing moment. Yrs fly by fast but the Boss is still as good as ever!

i've been singing "it's a long dark highway and a thin white line connecting baby your heart to mine" for almost a week now, and i haven't done that since i first heard this song when i was a 13 year-old in 1984. he's still makes the female heart pound hard when he says darlin', and he will *always* be a stone-cold fox to me. love him.

A year later and I’m also amazed the snare drum is as low as it is. No brightness on the piano. Organ screaming loud. A truly disastrous mix especially for something that had a chance to see post-production and quick fixes. @nittyranks8 жыл бұрын
+chris durso Not really he doesn't have the girth in sound that Clarence did. He doesn't attack the horn the same way, probably doesn't use the same kind of mouth piece. Check out Independence day, Drive all Night, NYC serenade. He just doesn't sound the same, nothing against the kid he just isn't that great of a replacement.

My long-time question is this: did the ties really bind? I am sure there was some actual relationship in the seventies that this song was inspired by. Did the ties ultimately really bind in that relationship? Or the girl just walked out, no matter what. In other words: was the message real, or just a wish? When I first heard this song in the '80-ies this immediately became one my the first five favorites from The River. I was a teenager back then, and did not much think about the meaning. Now, over the decades that followed I would have wanted to rely on this song so much in actual relationships, and my bitter conclusion, after so many affairs, life partnerships, marriage, kids, secret lovers, etc., ties that I thought were so strong you could pull an ocean crusier with, the sacrifices for the other mounting to the sky, and still no: the ties don't bind. The only ties that do bind are family, but the male-female ones: in the end of the day only very rarely, if ever at all. So, how was it in that relationship that this song is about?
@lostz27543 жыл бұрын
Bruce probably made this one up to some extent. I’m sure he has some autobiographical songs, but he mostly writes fiction for everyman.

When did you become a politician? I always thought your fans came first...you cancelled ur concert in NC because of a constitutional issue. Who gives a shit if a man pees on a womems bathroom or.visa versa. In 1985 at the LA colisoim converte I used the men's bathroom because there were to many women in line. No one said a word. Bruce I have loved you for 2/3ds of my life but I never thought you would thrpw your fans aside for something so trivial as who can pee.where. disappointed but still love your style. Always ur fan!!!!
@CPSJSMSUUMUGA8 жыл бұрын
You are apparently ignorant of the widespread discrimination made legal - indefinitely, until the law is either repealed, or challenged in Federal Court, which will take years - which he cancelled a concert in Greensboro to protest. To quote the New York Times, "Mr. Springsteen followed the adage that all it takes for evil to prevail is for good people to remain silent. What are the rest of you waiting for." Businesses, including Google, who provides KZbin, which gave you the opportunity to fail to follow the adage, "better to remain silent, and suspected of being a fool, than to speak, and remove all doubt," have cancelled plans to expand into NC. Most recently, the NBA pulled next year's All-Star game out of Charlotte. Allowing bigotry, discrimination, and the denial of basic human rights to any group may be trivial to you. It is not to men and women of principle.
