That explosion at the beginning of the film is one of, if not the best composed explosion in film history. Not only is it a perfect practical effect and the work of the stuntmen is also unique in this scene, but also the shock effect is second to none. Also they had permission to literally drive thru Central Park is hillarious. Die Hard 3 is not a guilty pleasure action flick, it is a masterpiece.

You fill the 3 gallon jug and pour it into the 5 gallon jug. You then fill the 3 gallon jug again, and fill the 5 gallon jug to capacity. This leaves 1 gallon in your 3 gallon jug. Take the 5 gallon jug that you've filled all the way, and pour it out. Then pour the 1 remaining gallon in your 3 gallon jug into the empty 5 gallon. Refill the 3 gallon jug. Pour that into your 5 gallon jug, which already has 1 gallon in it, giving you - 4 Gallons!! I've had this worked out for 20 some years - just waiting to defuse a bomb with this riddle....

As "I" was going to St Ives. So the guy telling the riddle was the only one headed to St. Ives, which is why the answer is one. Fill 5 gallon jug. Then use the 5 gal jug to fill up the 3 gallon, leaving 2 gallons still in the 5gal. Empty the 3gal (just dump it on the grass), and pour the rest of the 5gal into the now empty 3 gal. Now the 3 gallon has 2 gallons of water and has space for one more gallon. Fill up the 5gal again and dump 1 gallon into the 3 gal, filling it up. That leaves 4 gallons in the 5 gal jug. Put the 5 gal jug with 4 gallons in it on the scale.

I think it may even be the funnier change over the iconic "Mr Falcon." Although, in real life he'd still probably get the same reaction with the "everybody" sign anyway. Still, how hilarious they went with that. I mean "blacks" would have been the appropriate compromise. Neither would fly today, which is a shame, I remember the first time I saw that and thinking "how clever." It really is one of the worst dares you could give a guy,.

Yeah the German is.. Weird. It's kinda sorta German. The actor's German pronunciation oddly enough is actually half decent. At least, I'm not hearing the dead give-aways of an American accent. But it's like a really bad google translate German. It seems like a literal word for word translation of an English text. Which is weird, since you'd think a movie with this kind of budget would just hire a translator even for these small bits of dialogue. It's not like English-German translators are very hard to come by.. Hell, there's probably plenty of German speakers in the US that would gladly do it for free _and_ happily teach the proper pronunciation.

A great sequel. The chemistry between Willis and Jackson is the main reason to watch this movie ...if you ask me. It's obvious that some of the most violent scenes had been cut before the premiere to avoid the "NC-17" rating. I would just love to see an unrated version of this movie but I fear that there isn't one.

@@MrNegativecreep07 Thats another story. The thing is that budgets spiralled out of control in the mid90s and it havent change since. Waterworld had a budget of 175 mil (357 mill adj per inflation) and Batman & Robin was 125 mil (255 mill today). And we are talking about 2 crap movies. The thousands of companies that used to make practical effects got reduced to less than a quarter by 2010s and younger generations (the ones the studios give a sh*t) they dont care because for them a movie and a videogame looking alike is not something that makes "noise" to their eyes/mind. Hollywood is burning money for many different reasons and movies before were generally better (there´s a ton of crap from the 80s and 90s, let´s not kid ourselves) but this thing of movies costing what it takes to run a small country is not new. What´s new is that between streaming and reduced boxoffice at the theaters worldwide, they are not making the same amount of money (if any) anymore.

NYC cabies will 100% hit u if u in da way. I was taking a cab from my office in mid-town to the Beth Israel hospital on 14th Street. Right before we get there a bike messanger decided that my cab wasn't going at least 40 mph, and tried to cut across right in front of us. Next thing you know he's about 20-25 feet in the air, and the bike is on it's way to the moon. It was definitely a satisfying hit to see...cause the thing we hate more than cabbies, are people on bicycles weaving in and out of traffic. I ended up just writing down a quick statement for the cabby, and quickly making my way to the hospital on my crutches...I didn't want to stick around for the cops, it would've taken hours.

That was way more fun at the time IMO. When I got home I made up a bunch of BS to pretend like I really watched it. A stupid amount of what I made up turned out to be accurate. Not a big fan of Die Hard 2. Good action movie and not so good Die Hard sequel. McClane became an immortal with a lot of plot armour (total opposite of the first movie and the worst thing in the sequel), can't stand with boring bad guys (except that one unexpected - that was a good twist), can't stand with a happy "Let it snow" ending while there is still burning bodies of innocent people on the first crashed plane. Renny Harlin's directing is very strange here, like he's trying hard to make the same movie as the first one but didn't understand at all what makes the first movie so special. But Die Hard 3 is a different story, one of the best sequels ever. It's pretty silly sometimes but John McTiernan is so good he can make it work, it's so well directed. Fun and intense, not trying to be the first movie but McClane getting some character development and there is a first time you see him as a real new yorker. Oh, and no stupid cop cliche like in the first two movies. McClane's coworkers is badasses here too.
