It is beyond me that Bruce Liu didn’t win this Rubinstein competition not even with any awards! Perhaps a blessing in disguise because a few years later he won the Chopin competition in 2021 which purportedly is the most prestigious piano competition and now Bruce is an established concert pianist. God has blessed him!🙏✝️

Mais quel talent, Bruce vous êtes pour moi la véritable révélation pianistique de ces dernières années ! Continuez avec la même fougue et la même sobriété dans vos incroyables interprétations si précises, si merveilleusement ciselées, sans esbrouffe ni effet de manche. Vous détenez à la fois cette fantastique technique, cette touchante sensibilité et cette belle humilité mises au service de la partition et de la seule musique qui font de vous un grand, un très grand pianiste qui marquera son temps. Je n'ose imaginer les interprétations merveilleuses que nous réservera votre maturité, lorsque l'on voit déjà le sommet d'excellence que vous avez atteint aujourd'hui. Prenez soin de vous, car vous êtes une perle rare, unique. Bravo et merci.

I actually put my opinion on air for Prokofiev a number of times. I only watdhed this all the way through because this is an extra-ordiary pianist. I also sat all the way trhough it when Yuga Wang played it out of respect for her prowess on the piano. It is still hard work listening to it and trying to uncover any real beauty in it - all except slightly in the beginning and at the very end. The Alborada Del Gracioso is rings above all of Prokofievs works because it is a masterpiece of beauty. If you haven't heard Liu's play of the Alborada Del Gracioso, you can prepare for a real treat. It is the absolute best play of it, to include Danu Lupatti's rendition of it!

how the fuck do you even compare one movement of a solo piano suite to a whole piano concerto?? They are two completely different things by two composers that their works aren’t even associated in the same music period. Ravel wrote during the post-romantic/impressionistic/neoclassicism era whereas Prokofiev is in the more modern 20th century era. If composers past Ravel’s era continued writing in Ravel’s style, classical music wouldn’t be progressing anywhere…
