@AnnaLVajda6 жыл бұрын
Gray Fox [ROU] the idea behind that is so if the husband dies or cannot take care of her she has finances. Truthfully reselling brings the money value way down. The husband who actually cares would just give the woman some money for safe keeping rather than just a rock that makes him look like a good provider while not even giving her enough at home to buy groceries as he buys himself video games. Financial abuse is common by abusive men who want to maintain appearances. I speak from some experience having worked in several jewellery stores and having had an abusive fiance. Customers would sometimes inquire about " blood" diamonds there is something called the kimberly process that is supposed to weed them out. Canada also has it's own diamond mine so if you want an "ethically" sourced stone I would consider that. Truthfully if I ever get engaged again I would buy from a pawn shop or just skip to a gold band for my wedding. No diamond compensates for a terrible spouse.

@TheKalihiMan6 жыл бұрын
Whether or not they’re absolutely necessary for life or to function is another matter altogether, but phones and computers do have utilitarian functions that most people in the industrialized world require. A gem (ones with prices inflated as much as the diamond industry anyway) is really a luxury item in the highest sense of the word; they serve no other function than to represent status. Ivory went out of fashion when elephant populations started to suffer severely as a result, and rare furs suffered roughly the same fate. Only a matter of time before people realize the costs of their status symbol outweigh its very marginal benefits.

I never understood this until now. When I first watched the film on DVD, I never liked that Danny Archer died holding his ground against rebels while Solomon reached Simmons to make a deal with the pink diamond. I though that was a raw deal. Now I understand that this is exactly how he hoped it would go. If he died before Solomon recovered the pink diamond, his sacrifice was in vain. If he stayed alive after Solomon made the deal with the pink diamond, Simmons would have Danny Archer hunted for the rest of his life.
