Looking back between this movie and recent reacher series it’s just night and day. Don’t get me wrong Tom is an amazing actor and I love his movies, but he just doesn’t fit this role like Alan does. Tom just lack that intimidation factor in him, and this movie just made him looked horrible to put it in a bad way it’s like an edgy wanna be teenager pretending to be a tough guy.

I seen a video about the current Reacher series. The narrator made some points on how the series is becoming less interesting. I'm looking forward to watch, chiefly because I'm easily entertained anyway. But I do hope that if this is true that the writers and producers enjoy many years for a lasting and successful series.

Having read all the books…and digging Alan as Reacher…a perfect fit really, except for the size difference, he did all the REACHER stuff. I enjoyed both films. And Cruise showing that this character worked, made Alan chance happen. Without Cruise we never see the TV series.

I love it in movies when people who get punched always get knocked out immediately. In real life that hardly ever happens. Of course, Tom Cruise can also hang off of jet planes as they take off and can also parachute off of dirt bikes as he rides them off a cliff and then lands on a moving train, so it must be real.

The only problem I had with the Reacher books was that he was too big. The times when he was put upon by some guys, who in real life, would have walked away from a huge guy like Reacher from the books. I thought that worked for Tom in the films because he wasn't a giant, so the bad guys thought they wouldn't have much of a problem with him.

But the script of that show us garbage. The little 125 girls beat up bikers 3 times their size and avoid automatic weapons fire without messing their hair or showing the least signs of stress. It’s like a silly 79s tv show where good guys only ever get shot in the shoulder and bad guys drop like flies. Completely unbelievable. I bever even finished it. Too bad because it could have been great.

having seen only the movies and youtube clips of the tv show, and having not read the books, i think cruise is more believable than the tv guy, and here's why: the tv clips often show some guy(s) challenging reacher to a fight. personally, i'd hestiate to challenge someone that big and obviously strong to a fight. the smaller cruise is a more likely target that a typical tough guy would confidently go after.

I doubt if Tom Cruise would go for it, but if he did, CGI plus other technology in special effects (like AI deep fakes) can give you a Tom Cruise that would fit the description of Reacher in the books. Look what special effects did for Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy, and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk. Personally, I like the way both Alan Ritchson and Tom Cruise portray Jack Reacher.

Comparing a low budget made for TV series to a big budget Tom Cruise movie is an unfair comparison. Yet, I like each of these actors in the roll of Jack Reacher. Tom Cruise has the mega big movie star charisma that Amazon simply can't get out of Alan Ritchson. Ritchson is simply not at the same level even though he better matches up physically to what Jack Reacher is in the books that inspires the movies and Amazon series both. One big advantage though in Ritchson. He's available and affordable. Amazon would certainly have preferred to use Tom Cruise for their series but the world's highest paid movie star isn't exactly available or affordable for the small screen.
