Happy for your good fortune! I'd heard so many failures by others this year, that it was good to hear someone doing well.

Nice. I've always had 1-3 hives for about 8 years. Came through this winter with 3, two of which were very weak. I've turned them into 12 since March but I bought queens to do it. I cut a massive hive out of a fallen tree yesterday that I'm going to try grafting queens out of when I get it home. You're right about the difficulty of grafting due to the timing. The easy part is the grafting. The hard part is being ready for the cells lol.

Thank goodness for your invasive trees that have shorten up your dearth time frame and increased your honey flow. Nothing seems to be all good or all bad. It's to bad the tallow hasn't gotten up to Kamon's area yet. He is already done with his flow. Thanks for the great view at the end.

No doubt. I think most people really do not like tallow or pricey but both plants are good for the bees. We are fortunate as beekeepers...but it is almost all done now.

Yes. When painting my nucs I will often buy the reject paint from Lowes. I can often get it for $10 a gallon. I have come up with some interesting colors that way.

Bruce, your bees are looking good as usual. I’m surprised that you haven’t started grafting some Queens. I really don’t know how you work a full time job and take care of so many hives. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for checking in again Don. I have thought about doing queens but just simply haven’t taken the time to figure it out. Have tried a couple of times with some success but it is so involved and time sensitive. Maybe someday...

Yes! Nowhere I would rather be with all the craziness in the world. It is nice just to be still and quiet and let nature talk. The world is still an absolutely beautiful place. Just have to get away from all of the noise sometimes. You need to get a jacket and come along for the ride sometime Marcus!

With them new hive lids you got off of Robbie armstrong,how do you keep mositure down in the winter time. Or condensation.

It hasn’t bee a problem for me here in the south. A basically never use inner covers. I do have one location where moisture has been a little bit of a problem in the winter but not a huge deal. Those hives are pretty much in the shade.

? I do the same thing every year. I build up to where I've got around 40 then I suddenly consider that if the city guy happens to come thru he's going to start counting and writing in his little book. That's bad. Luckily around half die each year. If I start trying I could get into major trouble. Im.in central Illinoiz and our flow usually ends by the fourth of July. Not always..

Why do many beekeepers like yourself call their colonies hives? A hive is where the honey bees live not the group of honey bees, those are called colonies! I also see many beekeepers talk about how many hives they've lost, are hives that easily misplaced?
@brucesbees

I use both words. Have never thought about it. I think most people consider the words to be interchangeable though I guess you might be technically correct. I have never really thought that deeply about it before. Sorry about that.
