So freaking iconic and amazing! Bruce Lee made it to Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat. More likely, the 2 oldest fighting games show lots of respect to Mr. Lee.

No he wasn't on screen he fought dozens of people, in real life he fought like two people his entire life and not in any officially sanctioned match. And he lost one of those fights so not a brilliant record. People just think he's all that because dads had trouble telling movies apart from real life back in the 70s.

@@BigUriel Yes he was. And also, how many fights someone has had is just a number and doesn’t mean shit. All that matters is the skill and technique, which is obtained from training. There’s a reason why martial arts were created, it’s because they make people better at fighting. And from looking at Bruce Lee, anyone can see that he’s exceptionally skilled and that’s all the proof you need to see that he was therefore, also an exceptional fighter. That kick in the balls was just epic. I just love how it looks clumsy and awkward a bit, but we all know it gets the job done. Imho that was the great contribution of BL to martial arts movies, he understood both street fighting and traditional martial arts and understood how to make a fight look both real and good for the cameras. I mean that fight with Chuck Norris until today is probably one of the most realistic fights put on film.
@RobinDale502 жыл бұрын
I talked to Bob Wall a few years ago and asked him about that kick. It was real enough, he took the shot to get the shot, so to speak. Obviously, Bruce wasn't hitting or kicking him with full power or anything, but they did a lot of full-contact (see Return of the Dragon also - most of those shots in the beach fight are real hits, especially the one to the chest that makes dust fly off. That was a bit of a harder kick than the others)

I think Bruce died of exhaustion. He worked his body so much and he rarely slept. Too much of anything is bad and I think he just over worked his body that it took its toll. Here on KZbin is a video of a man who tried to do what Bruce Lee did. He worked out every day but much less hours. He was as ripped and strong as Bruce but then started feeling weak. Went to see the doctor and he told him to stop exercising because its going to kill him. To this day he still is pretty weak. So that's probably the most likely scenario that took place.

For me the most impressive thing is Bruce Lee's incredible punching speed at the start of the fight, when he and O'Hara have their hands up against each other. What makes it even more impressive is that Lee was so quick while holding his strike back a bit (as he was not trying to actually hit Robert Wall full on) and I'm pretty sure the film was not speeded up either.

He made himself a king fu master by 24, but before he returned to San Fransisco at 18 for university education, he was already a youth film star with 30 movies behind him. So he was not only a martial artist but also a film artist and an academics specializing in martial arts and philosophy. When he walked into the film studio with his dad at the age of 4, his life had been on the fast lane and never stopped. He was an awesome achiever! He never wasted a single minute in his life time. He is not human!
@Skank_and_Gutterboy3 жыл бұрын
I read an account where a Hollywood producer wanted Bruce Lee for a film and took Bruce Lee to see his executive boss to get approval (can't remember his name). The executive rolled his eyes and said, "Oh no, not another karate guy. This is a genre that is getting burned-out." Bruce Lee showed him some moves and 5 minutes later he's telling the producer, "Sign this guy yesterday! Get the lawyer and draw up a contract, why are you still here?" It's also true that Bruce Lee was so fast that several movie-makers made him slow down moves so that they could be captured on film. There's plenty of Bruce's karate moves that look fake because nobody could move that fast, right? Bruce Lee could move that fast.
