To the 430 people who down voted this masterpiece, you all have no clue what great music is. In my opinion, this is quite possibly the best song ever written. I've been listening to Bruce for as long as I've been alive, including in utero. That sax solo is everything that's beautiful in this world, it has always made me cry every time I hear it for as long as I can remember. I'm so grateful I was able to see the Boss live before Big Man died. Hands down, the BEST concert I've ever been to. This entire album is GOLD and has helped me tremendously through the worst breakup of my life. Many thanks to the one and only Boss and the E Street band 😭❤️🙏

I used to blast this song full volume out of my car at night as I drove alone around the Welsh hills. Scared an awful lot of sheep, but man I wasn't in Wales I was burning up the New Jersey turnpike!!! The priceless gift that Bruce and his songwriting gave me was a belief in myself and the knowledge that there was something better out there. I'm 66 now and yes, life's been pretty good to me. @brucespringsteen-music Hi Bruce, thank you so much for replying. I live in Wrexham, north Wales! When I was a lad of 17 I bought a battered old '65 Tele from my local music store and cleaned it up. Trawled record shops in search of Telecaster players I could learn from. Saw this brilliant mono album cover in one shop window with this incredibly cool dude in a leather jacket playing a Tele just like mine. Went in and bought Born to Run - never looked back. Gigging saved my life in every way possible, and your songs got me over all the walls. Went on to a career in publishing, but still strumming the occasional chord, and still got the '65 Tele!! Been out there at most all of your UK gigs over the years - and still on that midnight run!

I was 20 something when the towers fell and mostly listened to rap music. I knew born in the USA and dancing in the dark but then the rising came out and he performed at the superbowl and my city of ruins was on the fundraising commercials for 9/11 and I liked what I heard so I dove deep and bought the dvds of this concert and I saw live in Barcelona on tv and bought that dvd and was hooked. Then went through a tough break up with a girl I’d been with since high school. Over ten years. Lowest point in my life you can guess where I was. Luckily I had a dvd tv in my car and a big sound system from my rap music. I watched the dvds everywhere I went and along the way Bruce saved my life. It’s a spiritual connection that his music reaches that’s why he’s the best. Best live performer ever. No question. Now I’m 43 with my first child. A 4 and half year old son who is literally my mini me. I’d play Bruce for him when I’d change his diapers. Now close to five he steals my phone every chance he gets and puts on badlands and Atlantic City from this concert. Bruce is the only artist he knows by name and listens to him over and over and mimics his guitar playing and stage performance. Truly spiritual and transcendent. Fills my heart with the most happiness a person can feel. Sorry so long but to truly explain what this man has done for me and the world took a while. All I can say is it’s more than music it is truly a spiritual experience. Thanks to anyone who reads this whole post.

Amazing to have such a snapshot of when a great artist is completely alive, awake and inspired to articulate in such an epic way. This oozes anger, tenderness, vitriol, poetry, sensitivity and goodness. This song has kept me company for over 30 years.

Jungleland is the greatest song ever. Nothing is close. I will never forget when I first bought and played Born to Run. What a great album, but when I reached the climax, Jungleland, I heard something special that I hadn't heard before or since. There is nothing that compares to Bruce's masterpiece.

This song really is a masterpiece. The tension of the piano under everything. The hopelessness of the organ solo that comes in after the Big Man's solo transitoioning to the hopefulness of the piano solo. The shot of Clarence before his solo getting his mind and heart right - and make no mistake, he bled his entire soul into that horn. And the Boss' vocals...man, this song is a masterpiece. And I've seen several commenters mentioning how young Bruce was when he wrote this song. I think Gregg Allman was 19 when he wrote Whipping Post and Dreams - perhaps the Allman's two best known songs. Anyway, I'm really grateful to be rediscovering Bruce as I have. I need to see him live.

@brucespringsteen-music I live in Guildford, Surrey, England. 25 miles SW of London. Is this Bruce wriiting here? A couple of anecdotes: a) 4th July, think 1985, Wembley. I had first experienced Live shows that year and so took son aged 6 to the gig. Had to be seats for that reason. You csme out on your own and started talking about Independence. Not USA/UK but from your father and the poor relationship of that time. I turned to my lad and promised him that would never be the case for us and it never has been. We are best mates and have beengoing to concerts all over the world together since, and at the front! b) 2013 Olympic Park London. Daughters also came to this one. One recently married had had tattooed a Bruce lyric I used in Father of the Bride speech. "My Lucky Day". I got her on my shoulders down at the front so you could see tattoo which you acknowledged to all our total excitement. You know what's coming next! You did an impromtu extra encore on your own plus black Takamine of My Lucky Day and dedicated it to my daughter in front of 80000 peopple. She was back on my shoulders by then. (Beyond) thanks from both of us. (On youtube as filmed by misterbee. Whoever he is he was nearby because my daughters' scream are evident). Afterwards various people wanted photos of the tattoo!! Cheers! Julian

W0W! Stunning performance! The lyrics, the music so very passionate, so real. Clarence Clemons solo performance made my eyes tear up just because the music that was coming out of his soul was so beautiful! 🧚🏻♂️. Bruce Springsteen was on fire with his vocals and the way he delivered this very powerful performance! Everyone in the band was so connected and so powerful with their delivery as well! Very touching. Big prayers for New York today and for anyone or anywhere else in the country who felt the harsh damages of this horrific hurricane.♥️😔🎺🧚🏻♂️✌️

Lile a lot of folks, miss those days, and the ones I loved who are gone now. What must it feel like when you complete a performance and know you just made history?

Those who make history rarely realize they make history. They just do the best work they can and keep going. Bruce especially is someone who doesn't really marvel at his work. He just keeps trying to do better every time he goes out on stage or is writing songs in the studio.
