Drive all night. Prior to my brother starting aggressive chemotherapy treatments, he had received The River box set from his youngest daughter for Christmas '16, a lifetime Springsteen fan, he anxiously awaited my arrival to crack the box. He asked me to open it for him, his hands unsteady from medication. I did so gladly. Going through the box, we got to the song list, he pointed to Drive all night" see this song? He asked. I'm going to dance with Linda to this song at the concert. His adoring wife and protector. We. Already had our tickets for his Toronto stop Feb 2 '16 but he was to start treatment in January. Too sick to attend, he insisted we go without him and enjoy it for him. Needless to say, it was worse than hard to hear Bruce sing the song with more passion than ever before. My Brother passed away May 12 2016 survived by family still struggling with our loss. His memorial bench is marked by the lyrics of this song. And try as I may, tears are shed every time I hear it, for the dance he never got. Love you.

In the mid 80’s I listened to Bruce during my trips on the weekends from Chicago to Wisconsin to see a girl. Sunday nights back roads home, I would pull over in the darkness on a 2 lane highway, pitch black out, open my trailer gate on truck, lay in the back and crank this song, Drive All Night! Now I’m 56, married her, had a Son, divorced 2 more times and Still think of the nights leaving her after a nice weekend! This songs kills me!

The Bruce song that started a life long love affair with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Just a 14 old girl with her copy of 'The River' in her room wondering if this was the real grown up adult life I was hearing about. Blew my mind away then and 116 shows later, his music still blows my mind. Every day is a "Bruce Day" and how lucky are we to live in this man's time? See you further on up the road Bruce!😍

Wow Linda, what a tribute. The River was too much. I wore out the vinyl and one CD set. Still all these years later, nothing has changed, this is incomparable. I've seen exactly one concert, that was 1981 in Zurich. The Swiss went berserk and smashed the place up a bit, everyone was so crazy. This live version of Drive All Night is even better than the album version. If you close your eyes it's still CC playing sax, really great.

When I take long trips by car, I actually prefer driving at night...far less traffic and much more relaxing. Clears your mind...On a warm summer's night with the window down, this song is sometimes played in a loop for hours... The hours and the long miles just melt away. Alone with just my thoughts on a beautiful clear night, with a warm breeze and this song... I really look forward to those trips.

When I lost you honey, sometimes I think I lost my guts too And I wish God would send me a word, send me something I'm afraid to lose Lying in the heat of the night like prisoners all our lives And I get shivers down my spine, girl, and all I wanna do is hold you tight Baby baby baby, I swear I'll drive all night again just to buy you some shoes and to taste your tender charm And I just wanna sleep tonight again in your arms, oh yeah, oh yeah Yes I do, 'cause tonight there's fallen angels and they're waiting for us down in the street And tonight there's calling strangers, hear them crying in defeat And let them go, let them go, let them go do their dances of the dead Let 'em go right ahead, girl, you just dry your eyes And come on come on come on come on, let's go to bed Baby baby baby, I swear I'll drive all night again just to buy you some shoes and to taste your tender charm And I just wanna sleep tonight again in your arms, oh yeah, oh yeah My love, my love, my love Let's start right now There's machines and there's fire, baby, waiting on the edge of town Out there for hire but baby they can't hurt us now 'Cause you've got, you've got, you've got my, my love, girl, you've got my love, girl Through the wind, through the rain, the snow, the wind, the rain You've got, you've got my, my love, oh girl you've got my love You've got, you've got my love, oh girl you've got my love You've got, you've got my love, oh girl you've got my love You've got, you've got my love, oh girl you've got my love Heart and soul, heart and soul, heart and soul, heart Take it easy baby Don't worry darling, 'cause you don't have to And don't cry now (don't cry now) Baby don't cry now (don't cry now) No don't cry now (don't cry now) No don't cry now (don't cry now) Just dry your eyes, little baby (don't cry now) Yeah dry your eyes (don't cry now) 'Cause baby I'll drive all night (don't cry now) I swear I'll drive all night (don't cry now) Through the wind, through the rain, through the snow, through the rain, through the wind, through the snow, through the rain (don't cry now) I swear I'll drive all night (don't cry now) I swear I'll drive all night (don't cry now) Through the wind, through the rain, through the snow, through the rain, through the wind, through the rain, through the wind, through the snow, through the [fades out]

Saw the “boss” in Birmingham Al. back in the early 80’s. That was THE best concert I’ve ever been to. When Bruce sang “drive all night” (one my all time fav songs) and Clarence keyed in with his DYNAMIC sax he almost brought me to tears. As much as I always loved Bruce Springsteen I would close my eyes and melt listening to Clarence play his sax. RIP Clarence “Big Man”.

It never ceases to amaze me and moves me to read comments from perfect strangers bearing their souls to perfect strangers. I myself have found myself opening up to strangers in ways I thought I could never do. The part that really touches me is the way they are listened to. We open our hearts and embrace them, never do I see anyone being ridiculed or being taken lightly. What I see are perfect strangers offering strength and condolences to other perfect strangers. Must be something in the music we listen to that shapes our heartfelt responses, that allows us to see from the point of view of others. Thanks Bruce for making us better human beings.

Yes this is true, I can relate myself to all the people who loves his music, and I feel I can share and talk endlessly what his music means to me throughout my whole life. Have been lucky 2 weeks ago to see him live on Broadway, believe it or not I flew for that from country of Georgia (not the US state) and it worth every penny spent and every second.

✅ Same here with me in a similar way! First of all I too believe music is therapeutic, like ‘food for the soul’, AND 💕 this song AND lyrics. IMH 70ish y.o. opinion, they seem to be more appropriate in respect to the sad 😔 state of our world today than when Bruce originally (and not realizing) released it. At my age now I’m so grateful to have been raised by parents who exposed me to various music and other 👍, useful experiences and ethics (NO internet back then!) - like traveling, art 🖼️, providing support and giving me as much education I could possibly desire without ever having to worry about paying (or taking out loans), having faith in ✝️ God, treating all people with respect and in a manner that I would want to be treated , etc. My one regret is not telling either of them HOW much they, and these things, meant to me often enough while still here - but DO believe they know from the ☁️ 🌫️ above - till we meet again there!
