Truckers do not need high power. CB is for local communication of just a few miles. High power will result in broadcasting over a wide area, blocking the legal radios of many law abiding truckers. Not only that, but you won’t be able to receive those further away.

Loose meters aka happy meters tell the customer what they wanna see. He reeled Bruce in like a bass. Hook, line n sinker. Lolol radios gonna bleed multiple channels. Lol plus that stock mic is great. Speaking as a licenced Radio Ham (Amateur Radio) here in the UK....I would recommend keeping the "Overs"/"Ragchews" Short as that Radio and it's "Heat Sink" which are the Fins on the rear are Not designed for anything more than about 30 watts or so. It Will get Very Hot quickly to the point of not being able to touch the rear of the unit and might start shutting the power down or even shutting the radio off if it has a Protection circuit fitted. it will also take a very long time to cool down too as there are no cooling fans in it. You could fit a large "Computer/PC Fan" inside the cubby where the CB is fitted, it would be possibly a 12 volt unit but check first, that should help with cooling so long as the Fan is Blowing onto the radio. You really don't need anywhere close to 250 watts, it's all sales speak unless you want to "work the World" with a huge directional Yagi antenna!. In a few years time (4-5) you will be able too on the 11 Metre 27mhz band with your Truck antenna possibly when the current "Sunspot Cycle" starts lifting out of it's 11 Year Doldrums cycle (about midway at the moment). Keep the power output down to a sensible output, say up to 30 watts or less (my Ham radio gear, Yaesu and Kenwood transceivers are only around 25 watts AM and 100 watts SSB!. Just be sensible on its output or it won't last long?, bigger antenna's are the way to go but not possible on a Truck at that height due to tree limbs catching or similar. love what you are doing to the old girl, all Cabovers here in the UK and Europe at 52ft overall length (trailer included!) but we have around 3ft taller height limit than you at around 16'6'' or more?. Keep safe and keep the video's coming.

It's a good thing the FCC doesn't have the time or manpower to check CB radios anymore, 4 watts is the maximum legal output for class D, AM communications. If you want more, you need to go SSB (Single Side Band), then you can generally, depending on the radio, transmit up to 12 watts. Yeah yeah, I know, I have a Texas Star 500 afterburner pumped into 4 102" whips on and 8'X8' grid, which (if you do the math) with a standard 4watt transmitter, will generate a 1200 watt omnidirectional signal. So you can do the math and understand why I talk around the world on SSB. And Amber: BC Mamma / Brunette Bombshell / TooShy (since she's shy on camera)

So this is really cool how this guy custom builds and beefs up these CB radios. But he needs to finish the job by protecting it. If there is ever a SHTF situation with an EMP or even a Sun Storm similarly generating an EMP, he needs to install a unit to protect it and the vehicle as well. There is a company that sells a unit that will protect whatever is hooked up to it from EMP's, CME's & a Lighting Strike for less than $200 I think. Well worth the investment.

I like that radio. Never heard of it. RCI 39 VHP! Good luck with your trucking business. Love the cab over ya don't see those much anymore. They were phasing out before I got my CDL's so never got to drive one.

he really does not know hardly anything about electrical, ohms laws and rf waves donot create heat lmao, the heat comes from the 100+ watts going through the electrical components inside just like a gaming pc

he does not even know how to solder properly lmao, fuck me hes an idiot

He doesn't understand where the heat actually comes from inside the radio.
@Spookieham4 жыл бұрын
Bullshit : upping the capacitors won't do shit. The only way to reliably get more power out without burning it up is higher rated transistors in the RF power amp, updated output match transformer etc plus you need a bigger exciter signal.

Looks like my Dads US Import in the 80's, a White Freightliner from the mid 70's. I stood for over a year doing nothing, looked pretty terrible, and I turned up 1 day and all the spraying had been done to match the fleet, new chrome added, and its 50mph in the UK (80kph), was unrestricted. Their was also 2 Kensworth's, 1 for work & the other competed around the country in races. Always loved me those US bigrigs, not the bulldogs, flat fronted box on 10wheels. 73's, 407, The Mad Hatter NW 🇬🇧 since 1972 😉

Hustler antennas must be great. The Bandit & Snowman never had any communication problems. They could hear each other perfectly and never have to listen to squelch out static no matter how far apart they were. Now wonder they never used cell phones.
