UPDATE. I've just got the steering (with spring suspension) working - took a while, but I was able to do it using only parts on the Sprinter and the Jeep that came on the back of it (plus a few screws etc). I tested the gearbox and found that the 'normal' ratio in the Tamiya gearbox that I used was a bit high (it went fast, but didn't have much torque), on the lower ratio the wheels are pretty unstoppable (subject to grip) although the truck is obviously slower. Changing ratios (and the position of the gearbox) only took a few minutes.When I've finished filming and editing I'll post up the next chapter.

Another informative and interesting video Pete. Well done mate for producing a fantastic series of vids that show the engineering difficulties associated with adapting stock Bruder models into fully functioning RC models. I'm looking forward to part three for a solution to the steering conundrum.

Thanks Ian. The problem solving aspect of these is great, plus the quality of the Bruder toys is amazing. The challenge with the steering will be to get the front wheels to turn without hitting the wheel arches.

Great thinking on fitting in springs for the rear suspension.

Thank you! the steering was a little tricky to sort out, but I am very pleased how this truck turned out. 🙂👍

Nice build

Thank you. I'm hopefully getting better at doing these builds & this was one of my first ones. However it does run very nicely & is great to drive. 🙂👍

Try using wpl chassis and axles
@RCModders6 жыл бұрын
I did use WPL axles & transmission on the Jeep TJ. I might try this on a future Sprinter build at some point. 🙂

I am planning to make an updated conversion of the Sprinter - with 3D parts which will be free to download or printed for a small fee. 😀👍

Amazing video, you gave me the inspiration to start such a project myself. What bearings did you use in the process?

Great thanks! 3 wide x8 outer diameter x 4mm hole. I think 😀👍

is the tamiya gearbox modification easier than using a wpl/jjrc axles ?
@RCModders6 жыл бұрын
I would say that each method has its pluses and minuses and depends on the model you are trying to convert and the look / performance you are aiming at. Personally I prefer to keep the original 'Bruder' look. It seems to be easy to find a tamiya gear box to go with each of the smaller Bruder toys and getting Bruder wheels to combine with them has proved not to be too difficult. The WPL potentially gives you 4 wheel drive and the steering well sorted. I would like to try a WPL conversion to a Mercedes Sprinter once I sorted out mating to the right size wheels (either Bruder or something else - maybe tamiya mini perhaps). 🙂

No problem. Thank you for your kind comments 🙂. I'm trying to do at least one Bruder video per week (probably publish on Fridays) and perhaps start mixing it up (Tuesdays?) with other content.👍

What were the total costst of it?
@RCModders3 жыл бұрын
It depends on parts used. Prob around £150 for everything if you buy carefully I would think.
Google translation of comment : Modification to radio control is amazing!I do not break, I do not know how to disassemble, We abandoned the lighting of the headlight · tail light.I am also thing that disassembly of the cab might be quite difficult without damage. I'll have a look when I get to that stageThank you for your comment.

Very nice. Where you get the cool tyres from? Conversion looks real good
@RCModders6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for you kinds comments. The tyres on the Sprinter are in fact the ones that came on the toy in the first place. 🙂👍

Sorry for the typo this phone I say one thing and write something else something else before the typo the video was nice enjoyed it just didn't like the zip ties
@RCModders6 жыл бұрын
I know the feeling 😂. i knew what you mean't, no worries. 😀👍
@paul13496 жыл бұрын
I enjoy your builds but you screwed up with the zip ties everything is perfect until you get to the zip ties and then you want to secure things with the zip tie instead of making mounting it and try to be a little bit more creative Yusuf pathan and someone years later will look at your car and that's what they're going to see zip ties

Fair comment. Cable ties definitely have their place in modelling especially on tidying the cables. They are good for prototyping fixtures & obviously help keep build costs down and help those without access to some of the tools that might be needed otherwise. I've now discovered 3D printing & am already designing fixtures without cable ties that would previously have used them. Thank you for you comments. 😀👍
