My son is about your age. We are both huge Mets fans. Cespedes was a ‘shooting star’ for the Mets. He shined brightly in his brief time with the team, so I get the indelible impression he made on you at that time..at your age. 👍🏼 While it’s very likely over for him as a MLB player, he can prove he has something left with a winter ball team in the Caribbean. Enjoyed your podcast. Your passion for the team was very evident. I’ll tune back in. Well Done.

3:42 yes we signed him in 2024 because in 2023 he hit 35 home runs. He wasn’t sitting on the couch for a half a decade

A motivated Cespedes prob can come back and compete. His problem has always been motivation and drive. Everyone in baseball knows this. That was the biggest issue with teams wanting to give him any type of contract in length. Paying him a high AAV was never an issue with his skills. Teams were just nervous giving him more then a year or two

That SOB better play for free if he returns! He burned the Mets when they bit the bullet on him. He was a gifted guy with very little discipline.

He just said he wanted to come back to the Mets so he can get his name back in the media. He’s probably just lonely.

Bruh, I clicked on this STRICTLY because of Yoenis!!! I am a HUGE fan of his too and watch him play in whatever baseball tournament or Winter ball team (Aguilas) he’s on. I’m still a fan. Having said that, I’m still disappointed in him for 2020 leaving the team in a lurch after a few games. I thought he was on his way back and he gave up on himself that season. IF we were to take a flyer out on him he’d have to show me during Spring Training that he’s back. I saw him a few Winter League seasons ago and he looked DANGEROUS!!! Then he got a hamstring pull and was out the rest of the Winterball season. But then, he played for team Cuba during, I think the WBC, and he struck out a lot. I’m a fan and I would love to see him play one last year but with Spring Training to evaluate him fully.
