I think it’s worth mentioning that this bottle does well with some time. The neck pour came off as very farmy and young. I feel like a month opened open aged it 5 years.

I hope you’re right. Just opened my first bottle a few days ago and very unimpressed so far.

I had pretty much the same experience. The neck pour tasted very young and extremely alcohol forward. My second dram from the bottle after leaving it for 2 weeks was almost like tasting a different whisky. Lemon, orchard fruits, vanilla and quite malty. A quality dram.

I find a little bit of lactic notes in the unpeated versions. I don't mind them, but it's kind of characteristic from this distillery, maybe they do longer fermentation? 🤷🏻‍♂️ . Thanks for another great review

Love their Port Charlotte series but I experienced broken cork as happened to you.

I always get a little bit of a pepper note which makes you think it should have some peated malt in it (we all know it's not peated).

Are the "Organic" and "Bere Barley" expressions available in the US market? I haven't seen them sold anywhere in MA.

Hey Erik, just started walking again (when is when I listen to your videos, so I've got some catching up to do). I love the Classic Laddie, it's my Isla Glen Fiddich. Nice, light for it's category. But I have a question for you. Every Scotch content provider is currently doing this scotch, either alone or with the 8. Why? Is Bruichladdich doing a marketing campaign? Is it timed with a distribution release? Just wondering why this is happening. I try and walk 2 hours a day so give me a week, week and a half I'll be up to date with you.

I had not noticed that anyone else was doing the Bruichladdich Classic Laddie. I did it because Bruichladdich Distillery was on my agenda for studying for the Master of Scotch exam and I had already reviewed Port Charlotte 10, Port Charlotte Islay Barley, and an Octomore but had not reviewed the Bruichladdich Classic Laddie.

@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies Must be a fluke then or the change in weather. The algorithm has fed at least 8 reviews all current. IMO, the Classic Laddie is the perfect BBQ scotch because it tastes like a BBQ. This, Glen Fiddich and Dalwhinnie are all perfect for warm water and beginners on the Scotch road. El Nino is going to give us perfect weather for the other stuff :) On a side note: I managed to knock off about 4 videos while walking this evening. I noticed the music in the background. Messes with my ADHD, I end up focusing on the music. I'm listening on headphones, will soon have the tv back on the wall (we redid our basement where I walk). Might be a different experience on the tv. Always wanted to try Bowmore so I think I'll wade in on the 12. Picked up an independent on Cao Ila I still have to open as well.
